Saw a nice moon dog the other morning.
This is Scoyenia, a shallow burrow usually made by beetles. Middle Triassic, 240 million years old. Moenkopi Formation.
Chirotherium left rear track in red. Two partial rotodactylus tracks in blue. 240 million years old. The fifth digit on the chirotherium looks like thumb but is not actually a thumb. It is on the outside of the track. The rotodactylus has five toes but but frequently only three show up in tracks. Middle Triassic. Moenkopi Formation.
A partial chirothere track (3 out of 5 toes) with skin impression. 240 million years old.
Evening primrose. One of the prettier plants that grows wild here.
Arizona collared lizard
Pretty butterfly
Another nice dino dookie. 240 million years old, Moenkopi Formation, Middle Triassic.
Arrowhead, Southwestern indigenous, probably pre-Pueblo.
Coprolite (fossilized poop). 240 million years old, Middle Triassic, Moenkopi Formation.
Chirothere pes (rear) track. The long digits 1-4 counterclockwise show up pretty distinctly. The 5th digit is the smaller stub far left just below digit 4. The large bump at the bottom is the heel. Middle Triassic, 240 million years old, Moenkopi Formation.
A faint set of three chirothere pes (rear) and one manus (front) tracks from the same animal. Middle Triassic, 240 million years old, Moenkopi Formation.
Southwest arrowhead.
Found this indigenous artifact today.
Got some wall art of a few of my tracks.
Chirotherium rex tracks. The first six were made in soft mud which deforms the track making it look smaller. The last two show a much larger track on a firmer surface with less deformation. Middle Triassic, Moenkopi Formation, 240 million years old.
