With a disdainful glance at the dark sky above him, Kamui picked up his pace, each step echoing through the otherwise silent night, uncomfortably loud. He really hated having to be out at this time of the day, preferring to do his job while the sun was still up. Sure, he had been able to fully charge himself over the past few days... but still, he really didn’t like that this meeting had to be at night.
For a moment he was tempted to activate his quirk, just enough to illuminate those godforsaken alleys properly, but in the end decided against it. He really didn’t feel like drawing any unnecessary attention to himself, so the streetlamps would have to do for now. At the very least he should be reaching his destination in a few minutes.
Or at least that had been the plan. Fact was, that the man found himself stopping in his tracks as a figure entered his field of vision, obscured by the shadows which seemed even darker beyond the lamplight. He couldn’t say what it was about them that made him stop, seeing how usually he would have simply ignored them and continued on his way, hardly even sparing them a glance. But, something about their posture and attire told him that they weren’t the ordinary citizen out at night for a late stroll. And clearly, they had just noticed his presence, too.
The last thing he needed right now was some small-time hero, hoping to rake in some prestige by apprehending him. Or, even worse, some lowlife thief stupid enough to try and mug him. Motionless, he simply observed the stranger in silence, not even trying to hide the glare on his face. The message was clear; mess with him and they’d regret it.
