Hello everyone! My name is Grace (she/her) and Iâve been on writeblr for a while now, but Iâve mostly been lurking this past year and havenât been super active in the writing community lately. Iâve made it a goal of mine to not only write more often & more consistently, but also engage more with writeblr and other writers! So I figured itâs about time I made a formal (re)introduction lol
About Me:Â
Iâm a black lesbian in my early 20âs & Iâm currently in school for graphic design.
I primarily write adult high-fantasy! I love world-building and creating new peoples, cultures, and worlds to explore! My works have and will always feature lgbt characters and characters of color, and religion and colonialism are themes I tend to gravitate towards and explore most often.

Hasanaâs investigation leads her to House AyanariâEladrielâs doorstep. But the more secrets they uncover, the closer they become, and the two join forces when they suspect their tragedies may actually be intertwined.âÂ

âFor thousands of years, magic has been foundational to life and culture on the vast archipelago of Orophaeâmore widely known as The Shatters. But when the nation of Auren invaded, those foundations began to crack. For the past fifty years, the Aurenian organization the Bureau of Patronage has worked to regulate and restrict interaction between humans and powerful magical beings known as Patrons, stripping Orophae of the Patron that protects the islands and the seas between. When her mother suddenly becomes ill, Khèlidi Oladeni surrenders her life on Orophae for a high-paying job within the Bureauâworking alongside her estranged, Aurenian father.
Khèlidi wants nothing more than to keep her head down and earn enough to support her siblings and ailing mother back home. But the relative peace Khèlidi hopes for is shattered when she accidentally makes a pact with a powerful Patron thatâs been long-thought dead, and is imbued with strange and frightening magic she never asked forâmagic she canât be rid of until she completes her end of a bargain. Khèlidiâs predicament reunites her with Hana, an old fling with a knack for all things magical and mystical, and the connections needed to evade the Bureauâs watchful eye. Khèlidi thought her life in Orophae was over, but now, a thousand miles from home, she must tackle feelings she thought she left behind, and a distant father sheâs never known, all while fulfilling the cryptic demands of a dead god.â

âWhen Dante has to drop out of college to care for the father sheâs spent her whole life trying to get away from, she finds solace in a childhood friend, Beau, who has just returned to their sleepy little town. Beauâs never been one for labels or commitments, and Danteâs never been one for anything but. In an effort to get closer to Beau, Dante weasels her way into Beauâs friend group, where sheâs quickly adopted by upper-class eccentrics Aspen and Lilith. However Dante has a problem, one sheâs determined to ignore. She blacks out every Saturday; canât remember what she does or where she goes, like sheâs possessed. Piloted by something unseen. When her life and relationships become disrupted by these blackouts, Dante begins to hunt whatever haunts her, though the more she digs, the more vindictive her pilot becomes.â
Between work and school, Iâm not sure exactly how much of my original content Iâll be able to post here, but Iâll do my best to be somewhat consistent! Iâll mostly be posting things regarding the world-building and magic systems of my fantasy wips, in addition to occasional writing excerpts and updates! I also love being tagged in tag games, so feel free to tag me! I wonât always be able to get to them but!! My DMs are also open; Iâm always down to chit-chat and meet new people & Iâd love to have some more writer buddies!
send an ask/dm if youâd like to be added to any taglists! (p.s. I already have a taglist for Vein and Vine, but AKOK is such a vastly different story it feels a bit weird to just carry it over. If you were on the V&V taglist please ask again to be added to the AKOK taglist if youâre interested!)
hello writeblr pals Iâm returning to this blog to say tumblr seems to have nuked my new account and I have no idea why đđđž
this blog is still âshadowbannedâ lol so Iâm not sure how many of my mutual will see this but I just wanted to let people know so it didnât seem like I deactivated out of nowhere!! No idea if/when staff will get back to me (or if my account can even be recovered at all?) and I have no energy to create another account rn so I think this will be my state mandated writeblr hiatus lmao
Godspeed and happy writing, gay people in my phone đŤĄ

i'm just going to start redirecting people to free resources for developing reading and language skills in children and i don't even say this in a mean way from the bottom of my heart i think it could actually sincerely help some of you in your day to day life to brush up on your reading comprehension because something somewhere has gone terribly wrong and it's concerning
âyou donât understand, itâs so hard being a pretty woman, men donât take you seriouslyâ <- woman who just discovered misogyny but has managed to make it about being pretty for some reason
The Writeblr Graduates Database: Find books published by our Alumni with the click of a button!
I've been seeing a lot of asks and recommendation lists going around recently asking where people can find the published books of writeblr.Â
Well, wonder no longer! I am putting together a dedicated spreadsheet of all the published books of writeblr/tumblr (hence the name, writeblr graduates) but I need your help to make it a reality!
I would, therefore, be immensely grateful if you could contribute to this list, whether you're an author or an impassioned fan/reader. Please fill this form to the best of your ability as the more information we have on the book the better people are equipped to decide on their next reading choices.
Is something screwy with my browser? These appear to be the same link.
I don't have any books published yet (some short stories in books, but that doesn't count, also a technical book but again does not count), so I don't need to apply for the database yet. I just want to read it.
âSilk is a noun. All nouns are very lonely. Theyâre like crystals, each enclosing its own little piece of our knowledge about the world. But examine them thoroughly, in all their degrees of transparency, and sooner or later theyâll reveal their knowledge. Say the word silk, and it vanishes with the sound, but your senses, your memory and knowledge cast back an echo. Write it on a piece of paper, and it stays there, unmoving, but your thoughts and feelings are already on their way to the farthest corners of the world. Thatâs what I mean about the loneliness of nouns; each one has to be self-contained, as if it were the only word that existed. As if silk were the only word, and is therefore able at any time to awaken our encapsuled knowledge not only of silk, but of the world itself. Even of forgetting. Just try to forget the word silk, and youâll be reminded of it next time you see the summer sky, a flower petal, or the membrane between two muscles in a butchered chicken.â
Inger Christensen, âSilk, the Universe, Language, the Heart,â trans. Susanna Nied, Poetry (September 2018)
