I need to send my thanks to @friendsof3villages if they hadn’t shown that there was a contest to help celebrate the 20th Anniversary for Harvest Moon/Bokumono/Story of Seasons, I don’t think anyone would’ve tried! You should please check them out, they are dutifully bringing us information for the new game thats coming out and sorting out the mad house that was handling all the international entries.

I love Harvest Moon, it’s been apart of my life for the last 15 or so years! I earnestly fell in love with Back to Nature and fell head over heels in love with the story, the characters, and how much of an impact you had on their lives. IT was one of the first games that I played where it was about doing good and helping people in a pacifist way. ( And it was my first intro into dating sims!)

I really miss that aspect of Back to Nature, where I could see the relationships and friendships grow. Where it wasn’t just mine that was the focus! I think thats why I really loved Animal Parade, it reminded me of Back to Nature with Rival Marriages and all the events you could unlock! It was such a rich world and story, I really hope they bring back those aspects, towns feel so lonely without the next generation of kids in games recently. Everything feels stagnant after you get married, just feels like there isn’t much to work up to aside from making your farm the best farm ever.

That doesn’t mean the new games are bad! ITs just, I supposed I feel a bit melancholy of the things we are without. The new features and mechanics are really good! And I like how well you can customize your towns.

Anyhoo, I rambled long enough.
