StrangeSpot, Round Fourteen: Loner

Ajay: “Candy is HOT!”

The kitchen: *is literally on fire*

Lana in the afterlife: “EXCUSE ME?!”

Chaos ensued this round for Ajay: he started fancying the mother of his step-grandchild, nearly burned the house down while distracted checking her out, invited his newlywed friends Woody and Chloe for dinner, got hangry in his werewolf form and served them charcoal, then started fancying Cyclotron.

Ajay wonders if the genie magic from his wish is messing with things, or if he’s just got chaotic bisexual energy.

Whatever it is, Moon happily snoozes through of it 💤

StrangeSpot, Round Seventeen: Weiss

Chloe gifts Lola some photobooth pictures of Lola and Goldie that she had in her inventory for some reason. It’s a good thing she did because later than night she attempts to cook a turkey and burns it, causing a fire... and there’s no smoke alarm in the old medical barracks to alert the fire department.

The fire moves fast and claims Chloe; Woody is lucky to escape. The building is too damaged and has to be bulldozed, so a heartbroken Woody moves in with Penny on Cover Up Road.

StrangeSpot, Round Sixteen: Weiss

Woody proudly shows Chloe where he grew up - and where they’re staying!

Lola comes over to visit and observes that the old medical barracks don’t seem very cosy. Chloe assures her sister that their new lodgings are just temporary.

StrangeSpot, Round Fifteen: Singles

After her unsuccessful first try at growing plantbaby twins, Erin sourced a forbidden fruit seed from a different supplier and put all her energy into one seedling. The moment little Frida emerged from the soil, Erin felt her cold vampire heart flooding with warmth!

Chloe and Woody had stayed on with Erin with the initial agreement that they look after Pixie and water her plants during the day in lieu of paying rent - but watching a kid during the day is a bit much. Even a plant kid who apparently doesn’t eat food or take naps still needs a lot of attention! Luckily Chloe and Erin are best friends now and can get on the same page (they’ve come a long way from daily brawling); Chloe and Woody move out at the end of the round.

Erin decides to move on from the Singles home too. It truly is the end of an era and she’s made so many good memories here, but it’s time she returned to Tesla Court...

StrangeSpot, Round Seventeen: Curious

The grief of losing Skye never really lessened for Pascal but he took comfort in the belief that they would be reunited amongst the stars.

In a double whammy for the Curious/Weiss family, Nova and Pascal both passed away this round. Lazlo takes on the solemn duty of bringing the graves of Skye, Pascal and Nova to the Strangetown Memorial Cemetery. While he’s there, he strikes up a conversation with Chloe, his half-sister who he doesn’t really know that well. She offers her condolences and highlights that she’s married to Woody, making them even more connected. (Lazlo doesn’t know it but Chloe’s reading the vibes to see about convincing Woody to ask Penny to move into the Cover Up Road home... she’s still not loving the medical barracks).

StrangeSpot, Round Fourteen: Singles

Congratulations are in order for Mr and Mrs Weiss! The Weiss/Curious/Smith/Land megafamily is now even more connected and it’s a heck of a family reunion.

Erin nearly dies going out in the sun to get cake; relatable. Later that night she drinks a toast to Chloe getting married - even in her immortality, she never thought she’d see the day! Now she’s the last of the original Singles and it feels like the end of an era. She’s still dating - she had a nice night out with Ripp Vandermorgan, including a woohoo in the photobooth - but what’s next?..

Chloe Weiss is an undergraduate at Drew University. I had the pleasure of hearing her deliver this poem at a reading I participated in recently. I believe it is important and relevant and heartening. Young people are engaged!
