Wal-mart chocolate
I just tried the 72% cacao Swiss dark chocolate by the Wal-Mart brand, Our Finest.
Weight: 100g Price: $4 for two 100g bars, or about $2.20 individually Taste rating: 4.5 /5 Texture rating: 5 /5 Value for money: 5 /5
Summary: Holy freaking crap, that is damn good chocolate for two bucks!!
Texture: Very smooth! It starts to melt just a few seconds after I put it in my mouth. No graininess at all. Very pleasant!
Flavour: A big fruity flavour--surprising for department store chocolate--with a noticeable bitterness and sweetness. If it were a wine, I'd say it had a "big fat grape" flavour. Actually, there's something that tastes almost alcoholic. I'd say this chocolate's flavour stands out the way port compares to red wine. It's a bit sweet for my preference. It's like the makers realised it was noticeably bitter, and added more sugar.
Other: I didn't think a Walmart brand chocolate could be very good. But I was pleasantly surprised! It doesn't taste generic, it actually has distinguishing characteristics. I would say it's almost as good as Lady Godiva--but hella cheaper at regular price! And at this price, you can afford to snack on it :)
