These Valentine Cookies are a delicious treat to give to your loved ones. They're ideal for celebrating the sweetest day of the year, as they're made with a cocoa-infused dough, chocolate chips, nuts, and festive sprinkles.
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup cocoa powder. 1 teaspoon baking soda. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/2 cup buttermilk. 1 cup chocolate chips. 1/2 cup assorted chopped nuts. 1/4 cup Valentine's Day themed sprinkles.
Instructions: Preheat the oven to 350F 175C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined. Gradually add the dry flour mixture and buttermilk to the wet ingredients, alternating between the two. Mix until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts. Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Gently press down on each cookie dough mound to slightly flatten. Sprinkle Valentine's Day themed sprinkles over the top of each cookie. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
