I am 100% sure that bug you saw is a Triatominae or kissing bug. They're actually dangerous disease-carrying vectors.

Don’t worry!  They’re stink bugs that we have out here commonly.  Body shape is different from the kissing bug, though the markings are very similar which makes sense why you thought that.  But don’t worry!  It’s a Western Conifer Seed Bug, which is a type of harmless stinkbug out these parts :)

Still let me correct myself and be a little more accurate: The US participated in the economic fall of Venezuela. Lack of properly skilled people in key positions, over confidence in oil economy, over reliance on imports, black market, that did the rest. 

Now for the specific issues of Chavez or Maduro, this is another story. I’m certainly not defending them and I’m sorry for anyone who suffered from their bad decisions / weird shenanigans ( especially the innocents who are regularly killed during riots).
