Second time through Chain of Gold...(should start CHoI tomorrow, yay libraries)

Thomastair. Oh lord, I’m a goner. I didn’t get why Thomas liked Alastair the first time through (doesn’t mean I didn’t ship them—I just didn’t see where it was coming from), but I paid more attention this time and reread GotSM recently.

I get it now. Alastair IS trying to be a better person. I’d actually say he is a good (loyal, loving, brave) person who’s made some lousy choices and feels horrible about them. He’s miserable, and for some reason Thomas can see it. Thomas can see under the facade, and he understands why Alastair acts the way he does.

It’s actually quite beautiful. She’s really laid the groundwork for this even though it happens in the background (again, ugh). I’m so ridiculously excited to see where it goes, and I am in danger of loving them as much as Malec. Maybe they can get a spin-off series, or at least their own short story a la GotSH? I’d read that! But I digress...

I’m curious to see how they develop over the next book, and as much as I’ve avoided CHoI spoilers, I do know it doesn’t end well. Here’s to knowing that Cassie likes to resolve everything at the last minute!

Now to reading this monster of a book before I have to return it...

always very funny to me how the end of chog is literally like one hundred bombs going off at once NO ONE is okay 😭 cassie set off twenty nukes and left us with that
