I'm sitting here almost crying because I've been looking for some starter patterns and tutorials to learn how to create my own plush stuff, and found this website https://cholyknight.com/
This person has the best tutorials I've ever seen. No stupid videos, just text, illustrations, photos and little infographics explaining things as they go along. They've been plugging away forever, putting out both free and paid content since the mid-2000s and I would never have found them if not for some stupid aggregate website listing dinosaur patterns. Like, SEO is screwing them raw.
They have written literal books about how to sew, and are giving them away free, with no nag screens, no "sign up and you can get this pattern" data leeching, nothing. Just giving it away. I paid like $25 a couple years ago for a beginning sewing book so I could just have something in a format that I could understand, and honestly, her free resources are just as good if not better than the book I bought.
Not only that, check out the faq for info on how she lets folks use her patterns. It's actually amazing, how free she is with them. The only thing you have to do is not sell them as your own patterns, you can sell the plush you make from them. It is the barest, simplest thing anyone could ever ask for in return, and I swear I have a knife for whoever doesn't follow those simple directions.
I'm so used to people being cagey and rude online that when I see someone who literally is mostly just giving back to others I'm like...???? What's the catch? Do these pdfs have viruses? Like, I know making fandom plush patterns is deffo what's getting her attention and keeping her lights on when people buy other things, but like fuck.
