A big part of me posting is that I'd love to see other people do their own Chompi designs. I don't usually get much traction on here but I'd like to have hope in my heart!!! So i'm doing it anyways.

If you want to have a go at making your own, here's my thoughts behind how I make them now. The last ones I posted had way more clothes on them lol, that was before I established the meta.

This one is a BIG cheat cuz I used the flower to inspire the colour of the dress only. I think I didn't want a repeat of the sunflower dress from Tanarata over here (still really proud of that one).

I love every opportunity to make a manticore though - as you'll soon see from my cat adopts - so the scorpio symbol was a perfect excuse. Making it a pineapple manticore was just the... cherry on top... that's a different fruit...

Hello world! @mandelmic here!

The rest of social media is evil so i'm returning to tumblr to see if I can have fun on the net again, but also cuz it gives me an opportunity to launch a new sideblog!

Back in high school I had a story called Weird World which was basically just a rip-off of @thechamba's Randomveus - I wanted an excuse to put random character concepts into a world where someone could be anything!

I drew a few characters that lasted into my time on dA like a banana slug themed nurse or an ancient lineage of superheroes powered by a sentient cosmic amoeba... I should bring those back honestly 🤔

One character that never made it that far was a person who shared a head with a beast, so their spine came through the bottom of the skull and the animal's came out through the back, I don't have the original sketch anymore but I do have this remake I did a few years ago!

I thought the idea was really appealing, and very fun to draw!! Also I had fallen more and more into the world of adopts - I have no money so I have never and probably will never adopt any characters, but I love how self-indulgent the designs can get!

The characters have no story purpose, I just draw them because it's fun and I like that a lot. It feels good to do self-indulgent art, especially in a time when capitalism DEMANDS to commodify our work.

I started using a colour scheme that my wife @nikiiwi made for one of our older secret projects - honestly because I love it and I wanted them to have a consistently cute palette :3
