if beatrice has her way, esme and olaf both will fall the sixty six stories from the top of dark avenue. she doesn’t have time to ensure it - not if she intends to keep her children safe. her window is narrow, and closing rapidly as she darts along the shadowed hallway that reeks of disuse and damp. the shaft of light from her spyglass illuminates her way, but she knows these tunnels like the back of her hand, and precisely where this hallway will lead her. the bottom of a very empty elevator shaft.
