Nuka’s eyes widened. “So that’s what those things are!” he exclaimed, feeling as if the sun had just risen in his mind. He wasn’t sure what he’d thought those item were, perhaps believing they were part of their human manes. The more he thought about it, humans were peculiar. Both the female and male humans had manes, but only lions had manes in the Pride Lands. Then again, humans didn’t have much hair at all to speak of. This was all very confusing.
Turning his attention to the bowtie, his nose twitched to sense the air around it. “Bow…tie?” he repeated, tilting his head to the side. “Humans accessorise more than their hair? I know they have things called clothes…is that a clothes?” He blinked, shrugging his shoulders. “I don’t know. I kinda like my flower” His eyes gestured towards it, tail flicking contentedly.
-
“Ah, do you like it? It’s certainly not as eccentric as the one Jack wears, but I don’t think I would be comfortable wearing such a thing.” While it was exciting to teach the lion more about human life, part of him wished it wasn’t one-sided. What was life as a lion like? Was their idea of society different to his? From only seeing a lion at a zoo, and hearing tales from William’s safari adventures, he felt he had a lot to learn about them.
“I agree, I think the flower is better suited for your mane.” At least, that was what he thought the body language said. “It is small enough to stand out, but it doesn’t take away from that charming mane of yours.”
As Damien asked if he liked it, Nuka nodded his head so hard the flower almost fell from his head. It gave colour to what little mane he had, and it made him feel the slightest bit more confident in his appearance. Was that what these hair accessory things were supposed to do? If so, it was working.
With his tail flicking against the ground in content, his expression softened. “You...really think my mane is charming?” He looked back at his reflection, unsure. “I have about as much mane as an adolescent lion.”

Hobbling next to the Mayor as he began to walk, Nuka’s ears turned to listen to him attentively. The sort of hero that Damien was explaining slowly reminded Nuka of a group of animals back home. “Sounds like the Lion Guard…” he scoffed, looking down at his paws. He remembered hearing about their deeds long after they’d swept them out of the less barren part of the Outlands. They’d rescue creatures trapped in ravines, calm down herds of wild Zebra and even tried to put out fires; or, at least, those were the stories he’d heard. “So…humans have people like that, too?”
It seemed a strange concept to Nuka. Did humans have their own version of the Lion Guard? What would that be, the Human Guard? It sounded funny when he thought of it, prompting a small smile against his muzzle as he watched his paws.
Nuka looked up as Damien spoke again, head twitching to the side as he listened. “I’m not sure that’s heroic, though…” he admitted. “That just sounds…nice.” His tail twitched behind him, red eyes meeting Damien’s gaze. “Do you do things like that? I thought a Mayor was a Leader, right? Leader’s try to help out, don’t they?”
What almost sounded like disbelief made Damien chuckle. Maybe he had been rather fortunate in his explanation after all if something sounded familiar to the lion.
“The small acts are often the ones overlooked and taken for granted, but they can make quite an impact over time. Mayhaps they are simple good deeds, or possibly even good manners; but mayhaps they can be the start of something better - encourage someone to look beyond their own needs and see how to help another.” When the lion began to ‘speak’, Damien slowed to a brief halt. It was too much of a response to be a simple ‘yes/no’ question, which meant that the topic might be shifted entirely. With the myriad of options, how would he know which train of thought was the right one?
“Sometimes… All it takes is the right inspiration. A ‘role model’, so to speak. It’s what I try to do while working here or where I am from. I hope that trying to do good encourages others to do the same.”
Nuka lowered his head and thought about that concept for a moment. It was as if a rock had been pushed aside in his mind, opening up into a cave of ideas he’d never considered before. Good deeds leading to a greater impact over time, like dropping a stone into the water and watching the surface ripple. It made sense, but it felt like a strange thing to think about. Perhaps, if he’d been less obsessed with proving himself to his mother, he may have been able to help end the feud between the Pride Lands and the Outlands, leading his pride back to where they wished to be. Though, he felt it was probably better not to dwell on that for now.
Sensing he’d confused Damien, his ears shrunk back. “Oh right, sorry...should’ve slowed down, huh?” Yet, at his answer he felt a small weight be lifted from his shoulders. At least he seemed to understand a small portion of his ramblings.
“So, you are kind of a hero, then?” he decided with a firm nod of his head. “You think I could be a leader? Always thought I could but I never had the chance.”
ooc; I swear I’m gonna be over here more soon.
Me: *finally watching Return to the Pridelands*
Nuka: I...didn't even get a mention
Me: Oh, Nuka I'm so-
Nuka: BUT MY SISTER IS LEADER OF THE LION GUARD!!
Nuka: (Shoots pistol to scare Vitani)
Vitani: THIS IS WHY MOM DOESN'T FUCKING LOVE YOU!!!!!!
(MAP) Simba’s Pride Reanimated - Part 18
My part for Tigerdog25 #Ducktales’ MAP, where we have to reanimate the deleted scene from The Lion King II titled “Nuka and Vitani’s News"
I chose Part 18 as there was rather poor footage of it, so I decided to get creative with frames I couldn’t make out (and redrew whatever frames WERE visible in the footage)
Also I have no idea what’s up with the sound (I guarantee it was MUCH clearer when I animated this)

His ears twitched up and down, listening closely and blinking when the punchline was delivered. After a moment, it sunk in and his eyes widened. “Oh!” he cried, breaking into a fit of giggles. “That’s a good one! Because he’s a rock! And another word for a rock is a boulder! I got it!”
“Yeah. It’s a bit of a thinker.”
The hyena gives a small chuckle to himself, glad that the joke landed well. Even if his audience was a little cub that was most likely easily entertained.
“And what do lions do for fun?”
Nuka’s tail twitched behind him against the dry earth, trying a smile, although he looked rather hopeless for it. “Lions?” he repeated, furrowing his brow. He wasn’t sure what sort of fun he had. As Scar’s son, it was hard to find friends, even harder when his health meant that he couldn’t run for too long without getting exhausted. Despite that fact, he still enjoyed pouncing...oh wait! “We like...pouncing. You know, jumping and play fighting...that kinda thing.”
Me: *is away at the moment*
Me: *sees all the stuff about the new episodes*
Me: Oh! Vitani and Kovu are in this one! I hope Nuka, oh wait-

Dropping back onto his hind legs, Nuka’s tail flicked around his paws and made imprints in the dusty ground. “Umm…I don’t know. What did he shy pebble wish for?” he asked. He’d only heard a handful of jokes in his life, although most of them had been at the expense of others. This one sounded different, and he liked it.
It was a silly joke, he knew, but hey, that’s what jokes were for huh? But he was still having some second thoughts on using this one as examples because it felt a bit dumb but he couldn’t leave a joke without it’s punchline. So with a sigh he finishes.
“That they could be a little boulder.”

“...”
“I’m gonna go back to sleep.”

“It will come in time.” A simple, yet cryptic answer was given. It came out sharp, and it took Scar a moment to remember he was talking to his son and not a lioness. The king sighed, and sat down with a shake of his head. His left paw patted the ground beside him as a hint for Nuka to do the same.
“Look out there, Unika. It’s all dry and barren, as far as the eye can see. I can’t tell you when, but the time will come for the rains to return. They’ll all see our greatness when that time comes. If anyone tries to tell you otherwise, ignore them. Know you are more than they can ever imagine.”
Nuka flinched as Scar raised his voice at him. It was something he was growing used to both his parents doing, but that didn’t stop him from being frightened when it happened. With his ears pinned back, he pawed over the rock to sit next to his father.
The lion cub looked out over the plains. There was nothing but dirt and dust for miles and miles, the odd skeletal tree sticking out on the horizon. He’d never known anything different, so to hear that someday it might all be different was a strange concept.
“When will the time come, father?” he asked timidly. “B-Because if it’s long, I’m not so sure I have that. A-At least, that’s what I’ve heard some animals say.”

Flexing his paws in the dirt, the lion cub raised his front haunches pugnaciously. Of course, Nuka wouldn’t dare to challenge or even fight a Hyena, but it was always good to make himself look bigger in case the other side wanted to.
Yet, at the mention of jokes, Nuka’s stance relaxed. He stood up straight, ears pointed towards him with his head slightly tilted. “Jokes?” he repeated. “What kinda jokes?”
The hyena’s brow raises as he looks down at the lion cub’s attempt to look bigger. But there were other reasons why Banzai would never hurt him. He lowers his rump to sitting, stretching his rear legs out under him.
“Yeah. Jokes.” That’s what he and Shenzi did to pass the time sometimes. And Ed was always a good critic. But he hadn’t really been asked to tell a joke to anyone but them before.
“Uh..Like..what did the shy pebble wish for?”

Nuka’s ears flattened against his head. He knew that he had trouble saying his real name, although he was unaware of the meaning of the nickname he had unwittingly given himself. “No!” objected Nuka. “I-I didn’t come to spy on you!” In truth, Nuka had hoped he’d be able to make some new friends with the hyenas, but he decided not to divulge that information just yet. “I wanted to see what Hyenas do.”
“That’s what a spy’d say.” His head lowers, eyes squinting, partly just messing with the lion cub, partly being seriously skeptical. But he doesn’t seem to linger on the seriousness too long. His head lifts again.
“What hyenas do? What does that mean?? We..”
He trails off, what did they do other than the obvious? The hyena huffs.
“Well. We hunt, fight over leftovers, keep our territory marked, tell jokes I guess?” But maybe that last part was just for him and Shenzi.
