A Saurian Eye in the Sky Soaring High in the Sky

I can't imagine someone hasn't done this already, but I can't find any proof that it exists yet

So this one might be obvious...

...yeees. I’ve actually got quite a few favorite voice actors for Transformers, so I’ll try to pick only a few standouts.

First, the obvious, yees. Except for maybe Frank Welker, I’d say David Kaye is probably the most iconic Megatron. He was also my first exposure to any variant of the character and because I came in on Cybertron, he was my first Transformers villain, period.

Seriously, though. I can’t think of a VA I’ve found more iconic or genuinely terrifying in their portrayal, especially for specific scenes in Armada and Cybertron.  

And then the guy turns around and plays the hero. And lemme tell you, this portryal’s growing on me.

And of course, Venus Terzo. Blackarachnia was my introduction to her, and she’s been really iconic for me since then.

Naturally, Scott McNeil is also on this list. I actually met him once at a convention, but I completely failed to recognize him, since I’d never seen what he looked like, and only had a loose concept of any of his roles outside of Snarl from Transformers: Cybertron at the time.

Lisa Ann Beley as Override. Want a VA who can make anything sound badass? Folks, look no further.

And I’ll also pick Kirby Morrow, who was probably the first voice actor I was ever able to recognize from something else. He had a really iconic, young hero voice, and really had the character down, I felt.

Admittedly, I am also very partial to Michael Dobson’s portrayals of Starscream.

Oh, gosh, spoilers guys...

I’m sure you can guess from the picture which prompt this one is...

So today’s prompt is favorite death scene. Although both Starscream’s in Transformers: Armada and Vector Prime’s in Transformers: Cybertron had a lot of impact for me, Dinobot’s last stand in “Code of Hero” definitely stands above the rest.

I’m sure part of it is the duration, as his battle lasts a significant portion of the episode, and most of what comes before that is leading up to it or building around Dinobot’s internal conflict, which has lasted pretty much since before “Maximal, No More.”

There’s also the sheer epicness of the battle itself. Megatron and his Predacons are ready to attack the protohumans colony, with Dinobot as the only one who can get there in time. He chooses to fight, seemingly knowing the outcome, and proceeds to take down every one of the Predacons, wearing himself down in the process, losing his weapons, including his laser beam and despite bringing additional weapons into the battle. He overrides his stasis lock, knowing that doing so will kill him. As Quickstrike mocks him for his loss of weapons, he confirms that he remains a warrior even without weapons, beating him down and finally facing Megatron.

Just as all hope seems lost, Dinobot improvises and manages to take the disc from Megatron, expending the last of his power to do so.

And then there’s his funeral scene. And I do mean all of it, from his last conversation with the Maximals to the missing man flight over his body, everything is set up near perfectly to elicit precisely the right emotional reactions. I can certainly see why this is a contender for best Transformers episode of all time.
