Vivah is gender-swapped Baahubali !!
i have made an interesting discovery.
hear me out. Vivah.. it has Amrita Rao and Shahid Kapoor in the lead. Its about a girl whose parents die and is adopted by the uncle. Now, her aunt doesn’t like her because she is fairer than the aunt’s own daughter . So, in the run for the ultimate goal of marriage, the fairer one has better chances.
Now, Baahubali.. Its about a boy whose parents die and is adopted by the aunt . His uncle doesn’t like him because he is “fairer’ than the uncle’s own son. So, in the run for the ultimate goal of Mahishmati crown, the fairer one has better chances.
They also get a spouse from a different state, one who is understandably smitten with them; has the same values as them and is willing to stand with the spouse in extremely difficult times.
The differences can be solely attributed to gender roles. Being women, the cousins don’t have any issues with each other, in Vivah. And the ‘evil’ aunt transforms herself in the face of the MC’s sacrifice. None of which happens in Baahubali.
