story time.

I was in my chorus class the other day and my teacher was trying to inspire us so he said "raise your hand if you genuinely think you are a good singer." (I'm going to sound like a bitch here) now, I think I'm an okay singer, like if it were people in the room I was more comfortable with I would've raised my hand. but noone did. then he said "well, who ever said you were a bad singer?" noone raised their hands and he said "see, it's about thinking you can do it. you have to be a little cocky. but that's okay. you're souposed to be." but it dawned on me that I've had more people tell me I'm a bad singer than people that tell me I'm a good singer. like •the theatre company in my town • the judges at the state regional auditions •one of the producers at my school for the drama club • my mom •a lot of kids at school and it was weird because I still thought I was better, or at least good at it when I realized that I probably wasnt.
