caffeine.
Pairing: Sanji Vinsmoke x gn!reader
Genre: fluff + suggestive (but just a tiny bit)
Word Count: 756
Warnings: none!
Summary: You want to surprise Sanji Christmas morning and bake him sourdough bread, but due to poor planning you need to wake up extra early and knead the dough.
A/N: I was planning on posting this yesterday buuut oh well, Merry Christmas everyone! also this is called caffeine because I’m obsessed with the song by Kiro Akiyama at the moment if anyone wants to listen to the song xD
The sunlight barely made its way through the window as you tiptoed into the kitchen. It was still fairly early and you were happy you managed to get out of the warm confinements of your shared bed with Sanji. It was Christmas morning and you were planning on surprising him with breakfast and a loaf of freshly made sourdough bread.
You’ve never made the bread before and you’ve been slaving over it since last night. With your poor planning skills you had missed the fact that making the bread took almost thirty six hours, so you had to do a bit of extra work by staying up late and waking up extra early to roll the dough a couple more times before it went in the oven.
You took out the dough out of the fridge and peeled the cloth you’d put over it the night before, it had almost doubled in size and you were happy by your creation. Placing it on the counter you started to knead the dough, it was much tougher and the coldness of it made your already cold fingertips even colder. You shivered.
Kalanchoe blossfeldiana (Christmas Kalanchoe)
Winter-flowering plants are uncommon and plant shops have relatively few different types for sale at Christmas but the tables at my local plant shop are loaded with Christmas Kalanchoe in every imaginable color. Theoretically the flowers can last up to six months but to achieve that maximum age, you’re supposed to pick one out with lots of flower buds and just a few flowers. Of course nobody does that and the flower shops only sell fully-flowered specimens, so typically the flowers will fall off after about eight weeks.
This Madagascar native has very specific growing habits and getting it to rebloom is quite a trick. In winter they require a bright sunny, South-facing window but in summer they want shade. Over-watering is the usual cause of death and Kalanchoes can easily go two weeks without H2O. The summer is their dry season and they need minimal water for about six weeks. During this time they want ten hours of bright light and fourteen hours of total darkness a day (read: put it in the closet). After they emerge from this dry period they will flower about six weeks later but because they require shorter days to bloom they need to be in an unlit room so they can count the diminishing minutes of sunshine (just like the Christmas cactus).
Two more things to say; 1) I really like this ‘orange melting into pink color’ and 2) after decades of trying, we’ve never managed to convince one to rebloom.
Winter!
Last year I made a Mulled wine creature: https://acidshadow.tumblr.com/post/181355563999/on-the-first-day-of-christmas-a-creature-came-to
I mentioned a mulled cider creature would be similar. So this year I made one! With cloves, cinnamon and orange slices. <3
Merry Christmas!!
Even tho I have 0 followers I wish all of Tumblr a merry Christmas (or holiday)!
