It was your fourth date with Chris. In the second one, he took you to a museum, you noticed that he tried hard to seem a connoisseur of art and culture, talking about paintings, sharing information that he probably got from Wikipedia. On your third date, he went with you to your uncle's pub, because he wanted to hang out with you and your friends, so they could tell him more things about you. In that occasion, he even chatted with your uncle, making him laughed and acted like buddies. You had to give him points for knowing his way to gain your attention and for being so damn charming. Now, he invited you to watch a movie. You choose The Conjuring 2. You decided to go to a late screening, so there were few people there and you wouldn't attack the attention of people by being with him. During the film, he grabbed your hand and pressed it while the scary scenes were on. You peek at him to see if he was scared but he didn't appear to be frightened by the movie, he probably thought that you would be scared or could be just an excuse for him to touch you and that made you chuckle. He was so cute. But, you've been in that place before: someone extremely charming that ended up being a womanizer who would sleep with anybody, so you knew you had to be smart and don't let yourself get caught in his web before knowing if he had honest intentions with you. After the movie, he walked you to your home. The night was beautiful for a walk. You talked about life, dreams and hopes. He liked to make movies, but he long for a quiet life. Having a family, being a dad, maybe using the money he earns to run some business. For the first time you got a deep talk with him, just relaxed without trying hard to be funny and charming. It was nice and that was the point when you allowed yourself to grow a crush on him, but while still being cautioned. The next day was Saturday, so luckily you didn't have any class. You loved teaching, even if your college students acted like high schoolers most of the time, but you were glad to have some time to chill. You started to work on your speech for the event Harvard was going to throw in a few weeks. You were supposed to talk about your book and the motivation behind it and then there was going to be a debate and Q&A with Steven Pinker. While you were working on your presentation, the bell rang. You opened the apartment door and saw a delivery guy with a big box. After signing the receipts, you took the box and sat on your couch to check what was inside. A big bouquet of red roses, which you grabbed and smelt and the aroma was exquisite. Then you looked to the rest of the objects in the box. There was a DVD of The Lion King with a little piece of paper attached to it "Your favourite childhood movie. You watched it 123 times," there was a Spice Girls' cd "You sister broke it after a fight because you told your father she kissed a boy," a Godzilla DVD "the movie you secretly hated but watched because was your dad's favourite and it was a father-daughter tradition to watch it on his birthday," and a printed calendar with different years on it and with dates highlighted. One said "the day you told me you wanted to write a book," "the day we spent playing WOW and you defeat me - I let you win, sorry but it's the truth," "the day you cut your bangs because you broke up with the jerk and needed a change," "the day I realized that your smile was the most beautiful thing in the entire world." The last item in the bag was a picture inside of a frame of you and Henry from a few years back when you saw a movie together and attached to the picture was the movie ticket from that day. Tears were rolling down your eyes. You lied to yourself believing that you hated him when in fact your heart still beats fast when you saw him or even heard his name. But there was also someone new in your life, someone you liked. You didn't know what to do. You took a deep breath and grabbed your phone and went directly to Instagram; you searched for Henry and unblocked him. You gave like to a picture of him and his dog, expecting him to see it. You did not believe in destiny, but it was better than making a decision for yourself.
