Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne

This May, writer Mark Waid‘s run on Marvel’s Captain America continues with Leonardo Romero (“Hawkeye,” “Rampage Jackson: Street Soldier”) as the main artist. But they won’t be alone, as a host of guest star artists will join the duo for a celebration of Super-Soldier set in 2134 and seen through the eyes of Steve Rogers’ grandson.

Issues 701 & 702 of Captain America forms the “Promised Land” story arc, and will see Waid and Romero joined by a host of guest artists such as Adam Hughes, JG Jones, Chris Spouse and Howard Chaykin to examine the legacy of Steve Rogers through a story about his future. The artist announced for these two issues are impressive enough, but Marvel promises they aren’t the only guest to appear during the arc, with subsequent guests planned for the 703 & 704 as “Promised Land” continues.

“For the ‘Promised Land’ storyline, because it takes advantage of the entire history and legend of Captain America, we deliberately constructed the issues to allow us to take advantage of contributions from special guest artists,” said SVP and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort. “So along with Leonardo Romero, who’s doing the backbone of the story, we’ll have sequences in #701 by Adam Hughes and JG Jones, and in #702 by Chris Sprouse and Howard Chaykin. #703 and #704 will have their own guest contributors as well—but we’ll keep those under wraps for the time being!”
