Pinpoints - Season Three: Exploration (Episode 3: Chris Steinkamp)

Episode three of this season features Chris Steinkamp, a Milwaukee devotee who led me and five other young people through a year of service at Seabrook Middle School. Chris' desire to explore and discover all that new locations and people have to offer is central to what Pinpoints is trying to celebrate.

In this episode, Chris talks about the family traditions from his time growing up in Arkansas, his limitless interest in academics, and his devotion to making his part of the world better. Whether it was the small town of Seabrook, NH or the city of Milwaukee, WI, Chris deeply believes in the worth and possibility of all communities.

Pinpoints - Season Three (Chris Steinkamp teaser: Milwaukee)

Episode three of this season features Chris Steinkamp, a Milwaukee devotee who led me and five other young people through a year of service at Seabrook Middle School. Chris' desire to explore and discover all that new locations and people have to offer is central to what Pinpoints is trying to celebrate.

Upon arriving in Milwaukee, he found a city of hard-working people who were nevertheless divided along class and racial lines. In this final teaser, Chris talks about the wonderful things happening in those communities and hints at what's possible when cultures connect.

Pinpoints - Season Three (Chris Steinkamp teaser: School)

Episode three of this season features Chris Steinkamp, a Milwaukee devotee who led me and five other young people through a year of service at Seabrook Middle School. Chris' desire to explore and discover all that new locations and people have to offer is central to what Pinpoints is trying to celebrate.

Unfortunately, the American education system doesn't often give students a reason to be excited about learning. Chris was able to work the system and do well according to grades, but his greatest lessons were self-taught on the weekends and in the books he sought for himself.

Pinpoints - Season Three (Chris Steinkamp teaser: Family Rituals)

Episode three of this season features Chris Steinkamp, a Milwaukee devotee who led me and five other young people through a year of service at Seabrook Middle School. Chris' desire to explore and discover all that new locations and people have to offer is central to what Pinpoints is trying to celebrate.

One of three brothers, Chris had someone to follow throughout his school years, someone to teach and encourage him. Outside of school, Chris’ parents established family rituals of sports and food (a great pairing) that helped to ground him.
