Epic

In the forest, the forces of decay have been battling the forces of life since times immemorial. Queen Tara is about to choose an heir with a lily pad flower bud, which would ensure the future of life in the forest. The Boggans ambush her and her leafmen and Queen Tara is killed, but not before she passes on the bud to a human girl named MK and makes her tiny. MK, the leafmen, and a duo of a slug and a snail now battle through the forest to go to Moonhaven where the bud will bloom and Queen Tara’s magic can be transferred to her heir.

My mother loves this movie, and recommended this to me for my daughter years ago, but we never got around to watching it. It was a fun film, though I think in the “battle for the life of the forest” genre of animation, I have seen better ones. Princess Mononoke is likely the best one. I have somehow never seen Ferngully, but I need to add that to my list.

Colin Farrell voices Ronin, the leafman captain, and Josh Hutcherson voices Nod, his young leafman mentee. Amanda Seyfried is MK.

It's obviously just cuz Ice Age improved my life for the better in many ways and started many different things for me but Chris Wedge's performance as Scrat is what easily started my love for characters voiced by their creators or directors of said movies or shows. C:
