that holy 40 challenge thingy of yours looks interesting! I was wondering, what part of being a 'that girl' is Christian tho? and what does that mean really?
So a 'That Girl' is an expression for women who prioritize wellness, self-improvement, productivity, and self-care. It can be a Pinterest aesthetic, but I treat it as a mindset of wanting to become the woman that God created me to be. While the movement isn't 'Christian' or founded with Christ at the center, it does have a lot of Christian morals. Specifically, Proverbs 31, which describes an incredibly holy woman worthy of praise.
Things that That Girls prioritize are waking up early, self-discpline, working out, working hard at everything you do, excelling at academics, spending time on your dreams and passions, eating healthy food, learning from your mistakes and gaining wisdom, ROUTINE, physical self care, mental self care, gaining skills, digital minimalism, and romantisicing your life. And all of these I find a basis in Scripture for, so by using this mindset and the work and routines and stuff that comes from it, it pushes me to become more like the women that God lifts up in the Bible.
Yes, there are a few places where it clashes, like how That Girls usually manifest or are kinda selfish (not to mention that its seen as a rich girl's thing because of how much STUFF you feel like you have to buy in order to be included), so for those few cases I replace them with Christian values. Instead of manifesting I pray, instead of thinking about making myself #1 in my life, I put God as #1, and seek to serve others over myself, while also setting aside the time that I need to do what God calls me to do to improve as a person and as His daughter.
In the past two and a half years since I decided to become a That Girl and place high value on myself and my life, I have seen tremendous improvements in every area. By holding these values in high esteem and learning how to work hard to achieve them, asking God to give me goals to achieve and then crushing them because of what He has done in my life and how he's grown me to become a even stronger and better daughter, and rewarded me with His pleasure, and since he is a kind, loving, generous Father, he's also given me physical rewards now in this life to encourage me and help push me foward even more.
I see being a That Girl as very much a catalyst for wanting to grow in Christ, and by treating it as such, God has blessed my hard work and every few months when I sit and reflect on my life and His goodness, I cannot help but think: 'Wow, my life is shockingly good. God has given me hard goals to achieve and the steps to get there, and I've put in the work to achieve them, and now I get to see and enjoy the results now in THIS life because of His goodness and blessing, and I also know that they are nothing compared to the reward waiting for me in heaven.'
