Exclusive Video for TPT’s Rewire and Leav app
Last fall Chris filmed a handful of songs with TPT for their Rewire web series. Those videos can be found here. There is one other video, that was left off the TPT reel - and it’s now available as part of an exclusive content experience from TPT and Leav. Find out more about the Leav app and download at the app store.
So, I'm new...please follow.
I'm new to this whole Tumblr thing. I'm never on the cutting edge of technology, and I'm ok with that. Still, a couple friends told me that Tumblr is a pretty sweet blog site, so here I am. If you don't know too much about me, I'm a musician, based out of Minneapolis. I've got a hubby, two dogs, a house, a music career, a teaching career, and a general love of food, movies, environmentalism, vegans, road trips and all things old school. So there you have it. If you aren't bored yet, read on. This is my bio, complete with some quotes by awesome people who happen to love me. I'm a lucky girl.
Alison Scott is the strongest new voice to come out of Minneapolis in many years and her soulful, organic sound has quietly built a very large and loyal following. While staying indier than indie, and completely ignoring the hipster rulebook, through word of mouth with very little radio or media hype, Alison is making the kind of soul music that PEOPLE love, not the kind that people are TOLD they should love by reading someone else's blog. True music lovers have always responded to an amazing voice singing great songs, and they always will- from Aretha to Adele, this is timeless music that transcends style and fashion, something for the silent majority of listeners who aren't interested in fluffy pop OR the current flavor of the month .Working with multi-platinum guitarist/producer Kevin Bowe (Paul Westerberg, Etta James, Jonny Lang), drummer Peter Anderson (Polara, Honeydogs), bassist Steve Price (Rex Daisy) and keyboardist James Tyler O'Neill, Alison has become one of the most popular live acts in Minneapolis; she has sold out the Dakota Jazz Club over a dozen shows in a row, and is now filling 500 seat theaters. Last summer was spent sharing her band with Freedy Johnston at festivals all around the midwest which has spread the word about this amazing artist. More touring with Freedy to come in the summer of 2012. Alison’s releases have sold 10,000 units and counting, her new album “Hiding Under The Covers, Vol. 2” was released in June and features collaborations with Communist Daughter and Chris Koza.
Press Quotes: Youa Vang (City Pages)- “All artists hold a secret: the source of their creativity. Alison Scott hides hers under a controlled demeanor, but onstage comes alive as a soulful musician that shares original and astonishing personal music.” Scott Herold- “Alison Scott is a Rock Star! As an artist she believes passionately that music can build communities and impact the world. This shines through in every song she writes or performs. She is an inspiring young talent with a unique gift for story telling. I am having a blast watching her career grow.” Jon Bream (MN StarTribune)-“She’s got pipes, personality, and an undeniable soulfulness.” Chris Riemenschneider (MN StarTribune)-“Alison injects ample amounts of Southern soul and muddy grit into her music.” Brian Turner (Cities 97 DJ)-“Don’t forget us when you’re a big star, which you will soon be” John Ziegler (Duluth Tribune)-“Somewhere between Carole King and Alicia Keys... a force to be reckoned with” Pat O’Brien (City Pages)-“Alison’s songs are deceptively damaged and clever; she’s not even remotely interested in pleasing the so-called hipsters”. Ross Raihala (St. Paul Pioneer Press)-“like an outtake from Dusty in Memphis, pure jaw dropping soul, steely conviction that’s hard to deny” Laura Bethel (Maverick Magazine- Kent, UK)gives her 5 stars- “Deep, raw, and very, very real. Alison Scott’s new record is devilishly appealing , sultry and sexy.”
Well, there you have it. More later....
xoxo
