The terrorist at Christchurch was listening to a Serbian nationalist song on his way to the mosques, dedicated to someone whos convicted of mass genocide. And now this terrorist has killed 49 people and injured so many more. This country, my country, is supposed to be peaceful. This is not us. My prayers are with the community of Christchurch and the families and friends of the victims, and most of all with the Muslim community around the world as they grieve from this tragedy.
Today is a very sad day in NewZealand 😭
Today at 1:44 pm in Christchurch ashooting started in Mosque where all the Muslims where attending their prayers. A shooter came in and started fire point blank. There where around about 200-300 muslims children and adults. 49 are confirmed dead. Other seriously injured so please please if you see anything do not watch it because it was lived streamed it on his Facebook please this is a very said day for newzealand and all my prayers go out to everyone in Christchurch 🤩😭❣️
Please share
My thoughts about the attacks on Friday
Firstly, it was terrorism. It was an act designed to scare and send a message - this is terrorism. Anyone or any media outlet who denies this is lying and is most likely racist/Islamophobic. Remember, terrorism has no colour and no religion.
Secondly, we need to stop spreading the shooter's "manifesto" and the video he livestreamed on Facebook. He wants fame, notoriety and to convert others to his way of thinking - white supremacy; hatred. This is not acceptable and must be discouraged.
Thirdly, we need to stop talking about the shooter and his name, just stop putting him at the forefront. I know this happens every time anything terrible ever happens but I'm still going to say it: remember the victims, not their murderer. Unfortunately, the media will insist on telling us his name because they always do but that's no reason for us to give him any more attention he wants.
Fourthly, this atrocity was not the result of mental health problems. There is a worrying trend in the media of almost excusing the behaviour of white terrorists/serial killers/school shooters as side affects of their mental health. This is wrong and insulting to all those who suffer with mental health problems because it further stigmatises them as dangerous and makes them even more vulnerable in ignorant society. It also reveals a double standard in the media: any kind of criminal who isn't white isn't given the same "mental health pass" which is just blatant racism.
There is more I could say about all of of this but, really, the absolute horror and wickedness of the act of terror that was committed on Friday 15th March 2019 in Christchurch, New Zealand can be adequately summarised by this:
The youngest victim was Mucad Ibrahim and he was only three years old.
The problem with shit like this happening and being condoned is that it sparks more crime activity against that group of people in other parts of the world. So it’s literally not safe for any Muslim immigrants right now. Please be safe everyone.
I Suppose This is Welcome?!
the concept of starting a blog has always been a likeable one to me. this isn’t the first one I’ve made.
I’m Han, a caffeine addict from a small city, called Christchurch which is in a small country called New Zealand. I want to blog for a multitude of reasons, I want to have a record of my first ever overseas trip that I’m about to take myself on in 15 days, I want to blog about the things I’m passionate about which yes, while that is mostly coffee and cafes it’s still something that really interests me. I’m considering vlogging also, and maybe finding a way to merge some photography into all of this but mostly I just want to write, write about things and places and people that I love, about spontaneous adventures I go on and things that I do. I want to feel a deeper appreciation for things and i believe that if I wrote about them, I’ll have an easier time looking at the multitude of positives in my life. So quick, here’s a few facts about me. My name is Hannah current number of tattoos: 3, and definitely want more Coffee is best served black, bonus points if you have a dope single origin filter coffee available but mostly a short or long black will do I intend to have every photo put into this blog taken on film as film feels more genuine to me, it feels like there’s more effort and thought that goes into that work (maybe a whole post is required about my love for film?) I shoot on either a Sony a7 or an old film camera (Canon EF) I’m excited to actually be giving this a proper crack! See you in the next post (is that how you sign these things off?)
