Mark 2:15-17 KJV
"And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

We must be careful not to think of ourselves as so good that we condescend and denigrate others for seeking help, especially help that we ourselves benefit from. We all fall short of the glory of God and are equally in need of His saving grace.
(Read also Matt 9:12-13)
The devil only has as much power over you that you allow him to have. You can overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of your testimony. Jesus Christ is the victory, and in Him, you have the authority to tread on the devil and over all of his power. Because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. You don’t have to be afraid anymore, friend; be glad and rejoice in the Lord.
Revelations 12:11 / 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Luke 10:19 / 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
1 John 4:4 / Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
where would you say is a good place to start off reading the bible? im kind of overwhelmed by just how much there is and im not sure if i should just start off from the beginning or not
Hey there lil brother/sister in Christ! Welcome to the spiritual family, I'm so excited to have you!
The cornerstone of our faith is Jesus Christ... because without His life, burial, resurrection and promise to return again... we have nothing. That being said, the Gospels are the best place to start. If you don't know, the Gospels are New Testament books called Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. They tell the story of Jesus' life through the eyes of different disciples who followed him and tried to put his teachings into practice. I would say the book of John is where you should start; learn about how Jesus lived his life as our example in the flesh and learn about how much He loves you.
The Bible tells us to pray for the wisdom to understand, so it may be helpful to do this before beginning your studies!
"If any man lacks wisdom, let him ask it of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."
James Chapter One, Verse Five
Please feel free to leave another ask or even DM me privately if you would like more thoughts, support or advice on your spiritual journey. I'm so excited for you!!!

When one encounters God's word, it takes a denial of self to receive it or ears to hear to hear it. It takes grace. It takes faith.
But, oftentimes, many have no faith so the word is not heard nor is it received, so it is rejected. God's word has no place in them. God's word is His word and we will not always be on the same page as him, although his word comes to do us good.
One went away sorrowful from the word (Mark 10:22). Many times some have become enraged from the Word (John 8:59). And other occasions, many just walked away, no longer hearing the Word (John 6:66).
But the Word says, "Blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me." - Matthew 11:6
Be sure that you're actually receiving the Word. He says, "My sheep know my voice." Many are just delivering messages dressed in scriptures but are of another spirit. But the Word of God is of God and not of man. That word is what takes faith, denial of self to receive and obey, and ears to hear (Matthew 11:15; Revelation 2:29). Believe.
As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. - Galatians 1:9-12
