Dragon Riders Christmas Gift Headcanons

Request: Dragon Riders open up their Xmas gift from their S/o and it is a very detailed wood carving of them riding their dragon.

Hiccup

Hiccup loves dragons, but most importantly he loves Toothless, so your gift would touch him greatly

He would totally geek out over it

"You got him just right, even the mischievous glint! And my posture!'

He would display it somewhere where it could be seen by a lot of people

And he would gladly tell people who made it for him as well

Toothless would love it too

You might get double hugs

Astrid

Astrid would be really surprised and flattered

"How long did this take you? It's so detailed..."

She would run her hands over it a bunch, appreciating every detail

Definitely would want to sit in with you while you carve sometime

She'd put it somewhere special, to her remind her of how much care and effort you went to just for her

And she'd definitely return the favor by making something for you

Snotlout

If you give it to him around other people he'll take it and say it's nice and might even shrug it off.

But later he will totally geek out over it, you know when he's alone and his "reputation" isn't in danger

If you give it to him in private, however, he'll geek over it in front of you

Might even ask you to make more, because the likeness is so uncanny and he loves it so much!

He will keep it hidden, mostly because he wants to keep it to himself. It's probably his favourite gift he's ever been given

Ruffnut & Tuffnut

You better have one for each of them because they will FIGHT if you don't!

Ruffnut will be very excited about hers. Seriously, she has no idea how you made it look this good and she's kind of jealous of your amazing skills. She will carry it around with her for a while, admiring it.

Tuffnut will love his, he can and will shout about it throughout the village to anyone who will listen.

They'll both be a little surprised and flattered you'd want to give them a gift as kind and well made as this

And you know they'd both cherish them, definitely display them somewhere they can be seen because they're proud of your work

Fishlegs

Would definitely love it, he would freak out over the fact you did such a good job capturing Meatlug's Gronkle qualities

He might ask you for another one of just Meatlug so he can display the two together

And he would display it! A special place of honour

Seriously, he doesn't special gifts like this very often so it's very touching you took so much time to make him something so beautiful

20 - Yuletide Carols - 21 Days of Yule

900 words. Sam x reader.

You literally wanted a popcorn garland, what do you mean you forgot? Impromptu duet because angry. Silly, sweet, and bad at singing.

You are humming Carol of the Bells. You used to sing the same part in school choir until you were blue in the face, but you preferred the melody. It was a little off key, because you hadn’t bothered to find a version if it in a key you liked to go off of, but you were enjoying yourself as you strung together popcorn kernels and cranberries for… something? It was a thing Sam mentioned he thought was cool and now you were constantly pricking your fingers on stupid needs and covered in broken popcorn pieces.

“Hey, you.” You can hear the smile in Sam’s voice as he leans over your shoulder and kisses you on the cheek.

“Hi. I’m almost done with your stupid popcorn chain.” You hold up the fruit of your labor, ready to be hung on the banister with the rest of the garland.

“My popcorn chain?” He asked, sitting beside you and popping some of the unseasoned popcorn in his mouth. You felt a little lick of satisfaction when he looked dissatisfied at the taste. Good. You’d been work on this for hours and-

“You told me you wanted a popcorn chain and then forgot?” You can’t help the way your voice raises a little at the end.

“Um…” He doesn’t answer and you huff, continuing to string popcorn up.

“I’m sorry?” he said and you didn’t answer. Went back to your humming like he’d never come in at all. What a terrible person, to not be grateful for your hours of needle pricks and stinging fingers.

He starts to hum along to your Carol of the bells and you obstinately switch to another carol, one that will be a challenge.

“I really can’t stay.” You count the beats until the next line comes in and continue, “I’ve got to go away.”

“Baby it’s cold outside.” Sam jumps in and you laugh, he raises an eyebrow, daring you to continue.

“This evening has been so very nice.” Nothing can stop the smile that crawls up your face, leaves your cheek aching as he humors you.

“I’ll take your hands, they’re just like ice.” He takes the popcorn strands from you and sets them on the table, wrapping your hands in his and pulling you up and pulling you towards him.

“My mother will start to worry.”

“Beautiful what’s you’re hurry?” He steps back and you step with him, falling into an easy rythme that doesn’t quite match the time of your singing.

“My father will be pacing the floor.” You bite your lip, trying not to laugh.

“Listen to the fireplace roar.” He leans in close and pulls you tighter against him, leaning your pressed together from chest to hip.

“Really I’d better scurry.” You pretended to push against his chest and he let you step back, but then caught your hand.

“Beautiful, please don’t hurry.” He kissed your hand.

“Well maybe just a half a drink more.” You spin away and grab a kernal of popcorn to eat.

“Put some records on while I pour.” He pulls you back in against his chest. You have to finish chewing before you can continue (the popcorn really is bad) and he waits patiently, spinning you around like a princess. It’s actually kind of ridiculous, and you have to hold a hand to your mouth to keep from laughing and losing your popcorn.

When you can finally continue you sing, “The neighbors might think.” Making a mock scandalized face, and he frowns.

“Baby it’s bad out there.”

“Hey, what’s in this drink?”

“No cabs to be had out there.” “I wish I knew how…” you put a finger to your lips like you’re thinking, “To break the spell.”

“I’ll take your hat, your hair looks swell.” He puts an almost obnxious emphasis on the outdated words and you collapse against his chest, laughing.

“I ought to say no, no, no sir.”

“Mind if I move a little closer?” He slips his hand down to the small of your back and you look at the door and then back at him.

“At least I’m gonna say that I tried.”

“What’s the sense in hurting my pride?” He puts a hand to his chest like it might hurt and you pout.

“I really can’t stay,” with a shake of your head, but and he prepares to belt,

“Baby don’t hold out,”

“Ah, but it’s cold outside.” You sing it at the same time, and then collapse into laughter still holding each other tightly.

Neither of you care that your pitch and timing was off, that some of the words were wrong, or just skipped. Neither of you care that Dean walked in half way through and called Cas to come watch you make fools of yourselves. Neither of you cared about anything other than being able to sit in each other’ company and bask in this afterglow of a silly, shared moment that you could remember forever.

“We should tour.” You tell him, and he laughs.

“I think I might be an alleged serial murderer, and dead, but we’ll see what we can do.”

“You do kill a lot of things.” You nod very seriously, and he laughs again, leaning his forehead against yours and breathing in deeply the scent of pine that filled the whole room.

“Thank you for my popcorn garland.”

“Anything for you, Sam, always.”

“Always.”
