𝕸𝖊𝖗𝖗𝖞 𝕮𝖍𝖗𝖎𝖘𝖙𝖒𝖆𝖘! 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄 The tradition of decorated, indoor trees orignated in Germany, where Queen Victoria's husband, Albert, was born. It was, however, Charlotte, another German-native & wife to King George III (a few Kings before Victoria) who originally brought the Christmas tree from Germany to the UK. Though not the first member of royalty to honour the tradition, during her reign Victoria popularised the now widespread custom. This illustration (👉swipe) circulated in 1848, and though Vic's personal journals confirm the presence of a tree in her room the decade before, this image is credited as the source of our modern tradition. 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄 @gothicbookworm challenged me to #showmeyourfriday13 favourite book covers, and @matt.lune challenged me to make a #christmasbooktree.
