An LDS apostle reaffirmed recently that Mormons who support gay marriage are not in danger of losing their temple privileges or church memberships — even though the Utah-based faith opposes the practice. In an interview ...
“’Our approach in all of this, as [Mormon founder] Joseph Smith said, is persuasion. You can't use the priesthood and the authority of the church to dictate. You can't compel, you can't coerce. It has to be persuasion, gentleness and love unfeigned, as the words in the scripture’... Any Mormon can have a belief ‘on either side of this issue,’ he [Elder Christofferson] said. ‘That's not uncommon.’”
This was so validating. You can have your own beliefs. You are not a bad member of the church for supporting marriage equality. If the marriage policies are supposed to change within the church, then they will. In the meantime, I will stand for the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I will stand for the rights of my LGBT brothers and sisters.

In accepting the bulk of Cochin's analysis as if it were proven, Furet avoided the very question that should have been addressed. Furet's contention that Cochin had discovered a sociological law, or rather a sociological law relevant to the history of the French Revolution, is exactly what had to be demonstrated. Otherwise, Cochin's thin empirical work was nothing more than a paranoid effort to prove that the philosophical societies were behind every corner manipulating French public opinion — against its better judgment — into revolution. Indeed, before he discovered the virtues of "sociology," Cochin was quite willing to argue that the Revolution of 1789 was the product of a conspiracy.

Just as we need daily physical sustenance, the need for daily spiritual sustenance is just as strong. For the Children of Israel, manna was a daily reminder of the source of their blessings; today, we can remember Jesus Christ every day as we pray, read the scriptures, and meditate.
"We cannot afford to have those who exercise the Holy Priesthood, after the Order of the Son of God, waste their strength in pornography or spend their lives in cyberspace (ironically being of the world while not being in the world)."
