Ultracrepidarian - Of one who speaks or offers opinions on matters beyond their knowledge. - Jordan/Topher
A shiver rolled through Topher's body as he felt his girlfriend tracing her fingers over his side. Shifting his head to look down at her, the first thing he saw was her smirk as she did it again.
"A tattoo," he said, tone dry.
"Hah. I'm serious." Jordan's fingers pressed harder along his ribs, like that somehow proved just how serious she was. "I feel like I've seen it before?"
"You have spent a lot of time checking me out." Topher doesn't even twitch when she slams a loose hand into his stomach, puffing out a chuckle.
He sighed. "You're going to make fun of me."
"No I won't!" A pause, as they both considered the lie in that. "...Fine. How about, I'll find out sooner or later, and the later it is, the more I'll make fun of you?"
Honestly, that wasn't a threat that really got to him. Jordan had done worse to get under his skin than tease.
"It's phi," he said finally. The hand not holding her to him stretched out, absently tracing the shape over her own side. Jordan did jump, but the sound she made right after wasn't unhappy.
Her reaction was immediate; she pushed herself up onto one arm, a riot of red hair spilling over one bare shoulder as she stared down at him incredulously. "You got part of an equation tattooed on you?"
"It's not an equation. It's a symbol, you use it to represent the golden ratio."
She looked, if anything, even less convinced. "Isn't that from the Da Vinci Code?"
Topher snorted, tugging on her elbow until the girl collapsed back onto the bed. His arm wound around her shoulders again, tugging her into his side; a smile touched his lips at the way she automatically curled into him. "You got me." His voice vibrated with a low amusement. "I'm a big Dan Brown fan."
"I knew it." Fingers danced over his chest now, and he didn't bother to suppress another shiver. "You're a fucking nerd, Christopher Malone."
She tilted her head back to look up at him again, giving him that wolf's grin. It should have been a turn off; instead, he only gripped her tighter.
