So, because I can have the Mind Robber DVD on me for the next few days (it’s a library copy), I decided to watch some more of the special features. During a retrospection of the story’s production, I found out a teense more about Frazer and Patrick’s “I have your dossiers” joke.
Apparently, it was started and done during rehearsals. It was just something Patrick and Frazer made up because they “thought alike like that”. They also added an “Ooh! That’s painful!” to the crotch grabbing. They did it every time during the rehearsals, which meant that the actor who played the Master had to do his hardest not to crack up.
I believe they grabbed their crotches during the word “dossier” because it sounds like a silly word and why not give a sexual connotation to it? When Frazer was telling the story, it was lovely to see him giggle and watch his face crinkle up in that lovely smile of his.
Also, Pat was the one who said “May I put my dossier on the table?”
(P.S. Christopher Robbie, who played the Karkus, accidentally saw up Wendy Padbury’s skirt during a rehearsal of the fighting scene. And his German accent was his idea; Peter Ling, the episode writer, was as surprised as everybody else.)
