ARABIC LUNAR MANSIONS AKA MANZILS - MEDIEVAL ISLAMICATE TECHNIQUE

so in Medieval islamicate astrology we have this equivalent to Nakshatras in Indic Astrology, we call them Manzils (literally means "homes/places where one rests" in Arabic). So they have this meaning of comfort and rest which are so important to the Moon.

You can look at the degree of your moon (TROPICAL not sidereal, Arabs and Persians used tropical!) And identify the planetary ruler of your Manzil. The ruler of the Manzil does NOT show the nature of the manzil - so the 1st mansion isn't "solar", the 2nd isn't "lunar".

What you can do with the planetary ruler is look into it in your chart because it has an immense influence over your life!

For example, Audrey Hepburn has her moon in the 27th Manzil which is ruled by Venus. Her Venus is in Aries so as a young girl she used to dance ballet (Venus) in order to raise money for the Dutch Resistance during World War II (Aries)!!

The seasonal orientation of the signs in the Tropical Zodiac is also important, in part because the nature of the signs themselves corresponds to their seasonal attribution. The English astrologer William Lilly says: "Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn are all called moveable and Cardinal: moveable, because when the Sun enters into Aries and Libra, the Weather and Season of the Year quickly varies and changes; they are called Cardinal, because when the Sun enters into any of those Signes from that time we denominate the Quarters of the year. For from the Sun entering into Aries and Libra, the Equinoxes or the Spring and Autumn arise; from the Sun his entrance into Cancer and Capricorn ariseth the Solstice of Summer and Winter. The Fixed Sign doe in order follow the Equinoctial and Tropicks; and they are called fixed, for that when the Sun enters into them, the season of the year is fixed, and we doe more evidently perceive either Heat or Cold, Moysture or Drienesse. The fixed Signes are these, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius. The appeal of the Tropical Zodiac to ancient astrologers was twofold: its orderliness and regularity, and its orientation to the seasons. The first orderly characteristic of the Tropical Zodiac is that it is composed of 12 equal signs. The medival Italian astrologer Guido Bonatti says:

"But perhaps it might be asked, why the signs are only twelve?...One [reason]...is that twelve [or the duodenary] is more perfect than all other [numbers] not exceeding it...For it arises by the multiplication of the ternary [3] by the quarternary[4], and the quarternary [4] by the ternary [3], and the binary [2] by the senary [6]...The importance of the divisibility of the 12 signs of the Zodiac can be seen clearly in the Ptolemaic aspects: the sextile being 2 signs, the division of the 12 signs by 6; the square being 3 signs, the division of the 12 signs by 4; the trine being four signs, the division of the 12 signs by 3; and the opposition, the division of the 12 signs by 2."
