Chris was on a mission. As someone who took his job as a groomsman seriously, when Blaze and Angus needed something out of the back room in the venue, he was on it right away, a power walk at his feet. What he wasn’t expecting was to turn a corner sharply and run head first into his younger brother. And not only did he startle Colton with their collision, but the giggling young man whose fingers were threaded into Colton’s as well.
Chris’s eyes darted between the two men as he stepped back, surprised to see them more than anything. He watched Ajani quickly remove his hand from Colton’s to run through his own somewhat disheveled hair, the bliss on his features melting into attempts at nonchalance. More elegant in addressing acquaintances than his own brother, Chris cleared his throat and gave a nod to his dear friend’s publisher, “Hey. Sorry”
To which Ajani quickly interjected, putting his hands up in surrender, “No, no problem. I should ah...” He cleared his throat as well, turning to Colton, “get going anyway. See you out there?” A smile more akin to the one Colton had seen up close moments ago graced his features and Chris thought for a moment that perhaps both men forgot he was still there. But Ajani pulled away from Colton’s side and made a quick getaway after a beat, though not before tossing half a wave to Chris.
The older Broadmoor cleared his throat once more and looked up to his brother, all the gears in his mind having clicked and shifted into place. “So...” he began, “Blaze’s...agent?” It was a question more than a criticism, he’d simply met so many people all day they were all blending together at this point. Paired with the shock factor of discovering something he’d never even bothered to consider in regards to his own sibling, Chris was a little more stuck than he anticipated he would be in a situation like this.
