Authentic Living

I am scheduled to have surgery in the beginning of July and I'm paying for all of it out of pocket, so I'm reaching out for a little help. I am transgender and I'll be having top surgery, which means they'll make incisions along the pec muscle and remove the breast tissue, so I'll have the chest I'm supposed to have, but I don't want to sit here and slap labels on myself. I'm just a guy who's identity was taken away and I want nothing more than to get it back and live the most authentic life. If you can help make that happen, i'll be forever grateful.

Fundraisery Success

Through the combined efforts of t-shirt and coffee sales, direct donations, online and in-person yard sales, and our recent Pampered Chef show, Bee and I thrilled to announce that we have PASSED our fundraising goal.

We were hoping that we might be able to raise $5000, and we just clocked in at $5071 in just one year of efforts.  We're blown away by everyone's help and generosity, and we are happy to take a break from fundraising now.  The yardsaling, especially, was a lot of work!

Now, besides my obsessive mailbox stalking (come on, USCIS!), I'm switching my efforts into applying for adoption grants, which has been quite a process so far.  I began my part-time hours this week, so I have some more time to work on putting my applications together.  Hopefully something will come from it!

Since we have some big expenses coming up in the adoption process, we've been researching different ways to pursue grants and fundraising opportunities.  This week, we have been given the opportunity to partner with Chrome Buffalo, a nonprofit t-shirt drive that creates unique shirt designs and will give us $11 for each shirt that we sell until August 16th.

This is the design we have chosen:

We're encouraging any buyers to send us a picture of them in their shirts so we can make a photo album to send to our child once we're matched so they can see all of the people who helped to bring them home.

They say it takes a village to raise a child, and it will take a village to bring ours home.  Will you be a part of ours?
