Chapter 23

Mallory 

Even though I’m in my feelings about what’s going on with Mikey and I. I didn’t want to easily let him off the hook. He was dead wrong for the way he reacted. I would never purposely try to trap him with a baby. I have my own future to think about as well. College is so close that I can nearly taste it. My phone began to buzz onto of my bed. I quickly reached for it so I could see who was interrupting my thoughts. 

 Babe Calling. . .

I immediately rolled my eyes and tapped answer. “Hello?”. “Hey Mal can we please talk and get through this?” He asked sounding like he was sincere. “Sure what else do you have to say to me?” I asked him with a hint of attitude. “Mal baby I’m sorry for coming at you like that. I was scared that you could of been pregnant! We’re both not ready for that. I’m actually trying to go to College and I know I want to build with you from there” He said as I sighed and slightly calmed down. “I know babe. I was scared too shit ! I’m only 17. I don’t know how to be somebody’s mama” I said as I slightly left out a chuckle. “Shit I agree. You’d be one sexy ass milf though” He said as my smile grew. It was for this very reason I knew I loved this boy. He could be impulsive with his thinking and reactions but I knew he actually cared about me and loved me. 

“If you’re not busy this Friday. I want to take you on a date. I got to make my actions up to you somehow” Ty said as I blushed. “Sure you can pick me up at 8pm” I said. “Sounds good baby. I’m gonna hit the hay but I’ll see your pretty face tomorrow. Night baby”. “Goodnight babe” I replied then ended the call. 

I hope whatever we have going on lasts forever. 

Keisha 

Even though I was beyond done with Keeis trifling ass. I had to know what Kambria was talking about. It doesn’t sit right with me he’d be all up in Kambria’s face especially how mean she’s always been to him when we dated. Something wasn’t right at all. Even though my tolerance for Kambria has lessen. I needed to know what the hell was up with him. I have to prepare myself for the worst. Knowing Keeis, he probably did some foul shit. I pulled my phone out and typed his number in the messages app. 

Meet me at the park at 8pm. Don’t respond, you know who it is. 

I sighed and tapped send. I had to face my demons one way or the other.

It was already 8:00pm on the dot and that nigga was running late per his usual. I didn’t have all fucking night to be waiting on him. I’m already annoyed with myself because just a few weeks ago Keeis was threating my life. As I kept sitting on the hood of my car. I spotted his car from a mile away as he was pulling into the park’s parking lot. 

His car pulled up a few spaces away from my car. I couldn’t help but get a little nervous because a small piece of me cared about his raggedy ass. As soon as Keeis opened his door and stepped out. My teenaged heart skipped a beat. 

“Hey Keish” He said in his deep sultry voice. I quickly shook my thoughts and rolled my eyes at him. “Sup” I replied dryly. “Well I’m here what’s up?” He asked as he closed his car door and leaned against it. “How about you tell me. Why do I have to hear from Kambria you’ve been moving weird?” I asked looking dead into his eyes. His composure didn’t change when I just asked him about Kambria. “Earth to Marquis! I know you heard me !” I said growing more impatient with him. “Nothing happened Keisha. I don’t know what she’s talking about” He said then shrugged. 

“Don’t lie to me. I know Kambria is a bitch but she would not lie about you being all nice to her especially when she can’t stand your ass” I said then hopping off the hood of my car to get back inside of my car. He said what he had to without saying anything at all. That’s all I needed to know. 

“Keisha wait” He said as I ignored him and started my car. 

Kambria

“Hey Chris. Can we please talk it’s important” I said as he quickly turned around. “What the fuck are you doing here ? “ He asked as he looked caught off guard. “You weren’t answering my texts and I need to talk to you” I said hoping deep down he’d just let me say what I needed to. He sighed and nodded. 

“Go ahead but I have to go inside soon” He calmly said as I swallowed my saliva a couple of times. “Well I want to talk about what happened at my house a few weeks ago” I said. “What about it?” He asked confused. 

“You don’t remember !?” I asked getting upset. “Chris WE HAD SEX! How could you just forget?!” I exclaimed getting pissed off that he’s really trying to brush me off like having sex with me is nothing. He stood there and scratched his head as he looked at me with a crazy look. “No we didn’t. I would of remembered” He said as the anger inside of me was growing. “Yes we did ! You came through and we had sex in my living room” I said trying to get him respond. “Look Kambria. You’re cool and everything BUT we didn’t and I don’t appreciate you trying to create a situation that didn’t happen” He said seriously as my eyes started to fill up. 

“I thought you liked me!” I yelled at him as my tears were blinding my sight. 

“I do like you but I went about it all wrong. I want to try things with Kadence. I would never deny us having sex but we didn’t Kambria” He said then turning away to walk back into the backyard. 

As he walked away I felt my chest get tight. Not only was he lying about what happened. He didn’t even want anything to do with me. I was really hurt and I was going to make Kadence pay for really fucking shit up. 

The day she decided to get in the way of Chris actually liking me was her first mistake. 

Payback was on the way. Believe that.

Chapter 22

Chris 

Something didn’t sit right with me when Kambria came to mind. That night I was suppose to pull up to her crib she was off. I knew shorty was drunk but I don’t know why I haven’t gotten over the feeling she gave me. It was clear to me that something happened but I don’t know what. My mama raised me well enough to NEVER take advantage of a woman in any way. 

“Hey Yellow Crayon” Kade’s voice said breaking my thoughts. I looked at her and smiled at her instantly. Her little comments always made me laugh because she could never allow a light skinned nigga to exist. “What’s up baby” I said then smirking at her blushing her lowkey. “Nothing much. Mal is going through it with Ty so I’m letting them figure that shit out” She said as she fidgeted with her pants. “So if you weren’t busy this weekend would you like to go on a date?” I asked as her smile grew bigger by the moment. “So you mean like a date date?” She asked with excitement. “Yeah lil nigga an official date. You tryna date the kid right?” I asked her being goofy. 

I knew Kade loved my goofy side. “Yes fool. Unfortunately I guess I am available” She said play rolling her eyes. I instantly grabbed her in my arms and kissed her. She allowed me to just shut her up and that made me feel like we were moving in the right direction to us being more than best friends. “Ok ok ! You’re gonna suck my lips off boy” She whined as she lightly pushed me away and smiled. 

“You liked it” I smirked and winked at her. 

I grabbed her hand and started walking us to the gym building. There was nothing that was gonna stop this good vibe we are on. Not even Kambria.  

My phone instantly buzzed in my pocket. I slid my phone out to see a message. 

Kambria

Hey Chris. I really want to talk to you about the other night..

I quickly ignored her text. Why was she still texting me? I hadn’t talk to her since that night and before that. That was like almost a month and a half ago. I just know if I continued to hide this from Kade she’d be more than pissed. I don’t know what I should do.

“WAIT! So you’re telling me you pulled up on shorty and she was laid the fuck out !?” Ty exclaimed then busting out in laughter. I shook my head and snatched the blunt out of his hand. I exhaled. “Nigga that’s not the point” I said ashing the blunt in the tray. “I know but when do you plan on telling Kade?” He asked as I passed him back the blunt. “Soon but I need to see what Kambria wants before I do that” I said getting frustrated all over again. 

“Well until then let’s make some music cause this situation is fucking up the vibe man” He said as I agreed. The timing was all fucked up. Things with Kade were just getting better between us. 

Kambria 

I quickly sent Chris a text. I had a weird feeling about the other night. I’m embarrassed that I can’t remember what happened. I tried playing that night over in my head but shit was all too blurry. Was Chris really there? He had to be there right !? No one else knew about our little sneaky link but him. But then again I kinda remember Keeis was suppose to stop by but her never showed up. 

“Earth to Kambria!” Keisha yelled while waving in my face. “What!” I said snapping back at her. “You’re the one who said you need to talk to me so what’s up!?” She said in this cold tone. It was like the only friend I had really hated me. “Look I don’t know what’s going on but Keeis has been a little too friendly lately” I said tryna read her face. “Ok well that’s no longer my problem” She said as she kept her face straight and shrugged off what I said. 

Growing annoyed with her I couldn’t help but to try to see where her head is at. “Nah Kee. It’s your problem because you’re suppose to be my best fucking friend!” I said serving her back the same attitude. “Nah you’ve been moving weird so I can’t say we’ll be friends any longer” She said the turning her back to me and walking away. 

I can’t fucking believe her!

I needed answers! It’s all bad that because of that night I didn’t even get to talk to Chris. I mean I think I did but I had a weird feeling that Chris wasn’t there but I was so drunk and high that night I don’t know what to think. I was so confused to why my plan to seduce him didn’t work. It makes me so mad! All of a sudden he didn’t want to reply to my text messages !? He was literally trying to kick it not too long ago.

I’m so confused

I had to try to reach out no matter what! Chris is going to answer to me!

I couldn’t believe I was outside of this boy’s house. It was crazy of me but I needed clarity on the situation because it was driving me crazy deep down inside. I thought Chris really genuinely liked me. How could he just have sex with me and just ghost me like it was nothing. 

As I waited, I started to hear some commotion by the backyard gate. I slowly rolled down my window to get a clearer look. As I waited, Tyga walked out with Chris looking high as fuck. The scent from the marijuana was so strong as they both walked out to the driveway. I slightly ducked so they wouldn’t see me. My tinted windows covered my ass for real. I watched them do their handshake and Tyga get in his car. Chris watched Tyga pull off and turned to walk towards his house. This is my chance to confront him !

I took a deep breathe and open the car door to step out. 

“Hey Chris. Can we please talk it’s important” I said a little shaky.

Chapter 21 Part 2

Keisha 

The problem is I still care about that nigga BUT I will not be disrespected. I am not my mama. I refuse to let any man run over me like they have done to my mama. I may only be 16 but that’s not stopping a damn thing. Keeis better pray to the Lord himself that our paths don’t cross outside of school. It’s on sight and I mean that. 

“Hey Kee”. I slowly turned around to be met by Chris. “What’s up light bright” I teased and smiled at him. “Shut up nigga” He retorted and mushed me. Besides this nigga being in love with Kade. He was pretty cool and a loyal customer. “Are you good though? Just say the word” He said looking dead serious. “I appreciate the concern but I’m good” I responded looking away. “Ok well I’m here for ya. I know I’m just your customer but I care about your well being Kee” He said in a sincere tone. I smiled and nodded, “I appreciate that Chris”. 

We both parted ways and I continued in the opposite direction. 

Something wasn’t right. I haven’t heard from Kambria in a while. She probably was having another mental meltdown. I try to be supportive but she’s always pushing someone who cares about her away. I really wasn’t feeling the way she went about the whole situation with Kadence. 

Speaking of the devil. I spotted Kambria walking in my direction. Do I even try to give this lunatic the time of day? She was getting closer to me. 

“Hey Keisha” She said as I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms. “Oh so you do know who I am? I could of swore I was a stranger” I replied back with a nasty tone. “I’m sorry Keish” She said trying to sound remorseful. “Save that weak ass apology for someone who cares cause it for sure isn’t me” I said turning on my heels and walking away. “Keisha please! We need to talk about Keeis” She said as I stopped in my tracks. 

What could she possibly talk to me about Keeis?

Mallory

Lately I’ve been stuck in my thoughts about the last conversation I had with Mikey. I’m not sure why it’s still bothering me. I know the only thing I need to worry about is being a seventeen year old and graduating soon. The what ifs wouldn’t stop taunting me. Was this relationship just something to do until he was bored? 

“Hey Mal are you good?” Kade asked me as I snapped out my thoughts. I instantly looked at her and nodded. “Kade what I’m gonna tell you. Please keep this between us” I said as I prepared to tell my best friend my hidden secret. “Your secret is safe with me Mal” She said grabbing my right free hand looking into my eyes. 

“Ok so a few weeks ago I had a pregnancy scare. I was so worried it would happen again because Mikey and I have been intimate like rabbits. Like I never make him wear a rubber” I said cracking a little smile. Kade just laughed and shook her head. “Anyways girl I told him what happened and that I got on birth control” I said sighing. “Mal even if you were pregnant you’d be supported by my family and I” She said confidentially. “I know but I’m not built to be a single mother let alone a baby mama” I said getting upset again. “You won’t be!” Kade responded matter o factly. 

“I’m just stuck on the what ifs Kade” I said as my eyes began to fill with tears. “It’s just fucked up to know if it did happen I’d be alone in it. Mikey dismissed the idea. I am fully aware we both don’t need to be teenage parents but he could of at least gave me proper reassurance” I cried as I could feel Kade wrap me in a hug. 

“Hey what’s going on ?” I heard Mikey’s voice ask out loud. 

Mikey 

Lately Mal has been moody as hell. I don’t know what her problem is but I’m not a damn mind reader. She needs to speak the hell up. Lunch break was about to start so I made my way towards our designated spot. I spotted Kade and Mal talking and it looked all dramatic. I should stay away but I know my nosey ass wasn’t going to resist the opportunity. 

As I got closer to the girls I saw Mal burst into tears as Kade consoled her with a hug. 

“Hey what’s going on?” I asked as I placed my things on the bench and stood by them. Mal quickly broke the embrace and wiped her tears. I didn’t like that because it was like she was hiding the fact she’s sad about something. 

“Nothing. It’s nothing” She said getting up and walking past me in a hurry. Kade sighed heavily. “You better go after her Mike”. I shook my head and followed behind Mal quickly as she dashed behind a building. “Hey wait up Mal !” I called out to her. I finally caught up to her lil ass. That girl could move. “Wait babe” I said lightly grabbing her arm. “Talk to me Mallory!” I said raising my voice looking deeply into her eyes. 

“Oh now you want to talk!?” Her eyed grew big and she exclaimed turning to me with a face full of tears and pain. “It’s funny because you didn’t want to talk to me when I literally told you I had a damn pregnancy scare!” She said raising her voice too. “Mal babe calm down” I said trying to search her face for why she was so pissed with me. “No ! You really hurt my damn feelings Michael” She said as the tears began to pour down her face. It hurt my pride that she was really hurt and that I didn’t try to see was really bothering her. How did I miss it ? 

“Mal I apologize if I hurt your feelings. I didn’t take your feelings into consideration like I should have. I should of reassured you. We’d be okay no matter what happens” I said grabbing her close to me.

Chapter 18

Kambria 

- 10:05 pm -

As I lit the last row of candles. I couldn’t help but smile to myself. Yeah honestly I didn’t know the first thing about thing about being romantic or sexy. I’m sure this looked corny as hell but it didn’t matter because Chris was gonna get the point. All the weeks we’ve been getting to know each other and the kiss we shared. I was determined to make tonight special. The whole living room looked like something out a movie and I was proud. My phone rang out as a iMessage notification popped up. A huge ass grin appeared on my face. A couple of notifications continued to pop up. I unlocked my screen and scrunched my face a little.

Keeis

Hey Kambria. Have you heard from Keisha ?

I rolled my eyes and quickly typed backed to him. I didn’t really know how he got my number. Let alone the balls to actually text me. I couldn’t stand his ass. 

Nah, I haven’t. You okay ?

Yeah. I’m just messed up on some shit and I just need to know how I can make shit right with her.

Well I hope everything goes well with that.

This is mad random but do you think I can stop by? I know you don’t live that far from her. I need some female advice.

Honestly I have plans and you should be fine though. I’m sure she’ll text you back.

I wouldn’t ask if I didn’t know your Keish’s best friend. I really like her Kambria. I need help getting back into her good graces. 

I rolled my eyes a couple of times before giving in to this crazy request. Even though Keisha and I aren’t on the best terms. I know she really cares about Keeis. I eventually sent the address so I could help him out. As I waited in the process. I opened the hidden bottle of Henny that I was saving for Chris and I. I took a couple of swigs before scrunching my face. That Hennessy was no damn joke. I could already feel the liquor filling my veins from the big swig I swallowed. I swallowed a few more swigs before re-hiding the bottle.

I was beyond turnt. I almost finished the Henny bottle. My nerves were getting the best of me. Keeis was taking too damn long to stop by and I didn’t need him stopping by while Chris showed up. The doorbell sounded and I was trying to get my ass up but failing miserably. The doorbell sounded again, “I’m coming Dammit!”. I finally stood up and slipped on my Nike Slides on and slouched to the door. My eyes stayed squinted and my balance was all fucked up. I unlocked the door as I reached it. Opening it but it looked like Chris instead of Keeis. “What you doing here?” I slurred barely keeping my balance. “You told me to come through remember” He said as I nodded. “My bad Chris. I’m just stressed about Keisha and I’s argument” I whined as I threw myself on him. “Uh..what happen with y’all?” He asked as I looked up at him but not quiet seeing Chris’ face. My vision was getting so blurry. I couldn’t fully make out his facial features. 

“I’ll tell you when you come in” I said as my head was spinning and my vision was becoming blurry as hell. The door closed and we walked back into the living room. “Damn ma you went all out” He said as I blushed as he looked around the room. “Well I just wanted to-to do something nice for you” I said as we both plopped down on the couch. “So anyways what should I do about Keisha?” He asked and just the mention of her name had me feeling salty as hell. “Why are you bringing her name up when you came to see me?” I pouted crossing my arms over my chest. “My bad ma but that’s the reason why I’m here. Remember?” He asked as I scrunched my face. “Really Chris? Why the fuck have we been talking if you’re just trying to get at my friend?” I asked slurring even more. “Alright Chill Kambria my bad” He said as I scooted closer to him. “That sounds better” I said as I laid my head on his chest. 

“Well since I’m here. What’s good?” “Well I’ve been thinking about you a lot and I had the opportunity to have the house to myself so here you are” I said getting up and climbing into his lap. “Mmm you’re right” He said biting his lip and griping my ass tight. “You know I like you a lot and I’m kinda ready to take this to the next level” I said reaching for my sports bra and pulling it over my head. As my breasts were exposed to him. He didn’t hesitate to grab both of them kissing and licking them. I softly moaned as he continued to swirl his tongue around my hard nipples. I never would have figured that I would get this far with Chris. Just dancing up on him at the party turned me on and created scenarios in my head of what it would be like to be underneath his beautiful sculpted body. 

I could feel him growing underneath me and his bulge was hard and strong. As he was sucking on my nipples. I moaned out and grind against him. “Damn your tits are big as hell ma” He whispered in my ear which made my face turn hella red. “Come here” I said while I could barely open my damn eyes to see what the hell I was doing. “Damn” He mumbled as I stood up but soon met the floor falling on the pillows. “You okay Kambria?” He asked. “I’m o-o-kay” I stuttered. Just closing my eyes for a while, I could feel him hovering over me, kissing all over me.

”Mmm, don’t stop” I moaned out closing my eyes tight. “Hey Kam. Don’t tell Keisha about this okay?” He said which confused me to who really was on top of me.

Chris

It was going on 11:30 pm. I kinda told Kambria that I would stop by and kick it with her. I hope she wouldn’t be too mad that I was taking my time to head over there. Something inside of me was telling me not to go over there. Lately I was feeling more convicted of playing Kade. I cared about her more than I cared about most things. I rubbed my eyes and stood up slowly, grabbing my car keys and wallet. A light knock sounded on my door, “Come in”. Mama’s face appear. “Hey baby you heading out?”. “Yeah ma. I was gonna meet up with Ty to record something” I said not telling the truth all the way. “Okay baby. I hope all of your assignments are done and you’ll be ready for practice tomorrow” She said smiling and motioning me to come in for a hug. 

I smirked and walked to her to pull her into a big bear hug. “Thanks mama. Everything is taken care of and I won’t be gone long” I said as she hugged tighter. “Okay baby just be safe” Mama said releasing me and smiling up at me. I nodded and followed her out my room while closing the door in the process.  I know Mama worries about me but I’m good. Everything was starting to make sense about a lot. Maybe it was too late to go after Kade but I had to repair our friendship or whatever was left of it.

As I was pulling up to Kambria’s house. It looked like no one was home or she already went to bed. All the lights off in the house was looking black as hell. No lights were on and I mean not one. I parked the car and turned it off. “Man this chick better be here” I mumbled to myself. I pulled out my phone to shoot her a text. If this was a bust mission I’m gonna be hot man. Her phone just rang until it reached the voicemail. “Shit!” I spat re-dialing her again. I waited but the same thing happened. I don’t have time for this bullshit. I opened the door and got out. I know she’s home because her car is out in the driveway. I closed the door and walked up the driveway. Something just felt off about this shit. Finally reaching the door. I lightly knocked on the door and stepped back. Something inside was telling me not to trust her but she can’t be that bad right ? Do I just listen to my gut instincts?  

A few minutes passed and no response. I reached out to grab the door but it swung open. “Chris when did you leave?” She asked me as my face scrunched up in confusion. “Huh?” She grabbed my shirt as she wobbled to stay balanced. “Aye you good Kambria?” I asked she held onto me. “I-I-I’m good” She slurred pulling me into the house. I closed the door behind me. “What’s going on Kambria?” I asked still trying to piece two and two together. “I’m just happy you’re still here Chris. I really like you” She said turning around to face me. I nodded then walked around her into the living room. I scanned the room and noticed candles everywhere. “What the hell was she tryna do?” I mumbled to myself. “Wanna watch a movie?” She asked as she walked in and plopped on the couch. “Nah I’m good. I think I’ll chill for a bit” I said as she scooted closer to me. I don’t know what type of shit she was on but shit was weird. As she was gonna say something my phone started buzzing.

I grabbed my phone out of my pocket and saw Ty’s name flash across my screen. I silently thanked God for the distraction and answered it. “Wassup nigga?” I answered getting up and walking away from Kambria. “Where you at?” He asked. “Man nigga you don’t even wanna know. You in the studio?” I asked as I looked back in the direction of the living room. “Yeah come through” He said as I nodded and licked my lips. “For sure I’ll be there in a min bro” I said then hanging up. How was I gonna get out of this one? I sighed and walked back into her living room. Small snores were escaping her mouth as she laid passed out on the couch. I grabbed the nearest blanket and covered her.

Me being here was not a good look. It just feels like I’m in too deep to go back to what felt right which was working on something with Kade. I missed her in every way but pride is a hell of a thing. I couldn’t just admit that shit to her, shit made me feel vulnerable.

Chapter 17

Mallory

I just knew the whole Chris rolling through was gonna end up being a big problem. But like I told Ty that’s his friend and if shit goes down that’s his ass. As Mikey scooted to his computer to play another track. I could see Kade in her head just letting her thoughts run wild. This whole bullshit could of been resolved if Chris would of manned the fuck up. “Can you not look like you ready to fight the nigga” Mikey said as I rolled my eyes even harder. “Mally I’m fine okay” Kade said as I tried not to let the shit bother me. A knock sounded on the door. “It’s open man”. The door opened as Chris opened the door and walked through looking already faded. “Hey Y’all”. “What’s up my nigga” Mikey said greeting Chris all extra friendly. “Hey Mal” Chris said as I nodded and let out a dry ass hello. All I know is he better not even say not a damn thing to Kade.

“So bro I’ve been working on this track and you have to do a hook” Mikey said as I watched Chris get a little antsy. “Oh just let me hear it first” He said as I rolled my eyes knowing Chris wasn’t gonna wanna do not a damn thing since Kade was the one person who motivated him to do music again. I looked over to Kade and she had her face buried in her phone. Usually that’s all I do. “Killa K you all quiet and shit” Ty said making her look up from her phone briefly. “Oh my bad but I think I’m gonna head out. My mom needs me to do an errand and shit” She said looking back down to her phone. “Alright but just listen to this song first” He said as he pressed play and the music started to bump. 

Regular Girl started filling the room and I was immediately calm. I really liked this joint as I looked around the room all of our heads were bumping to the beat. I noticed something pop on Chris’s screen. He tapped into the Snapchat app and he opened a notification up and of course that broad was sending him a bikini picture. I sucked my teeth and looked away with disgust. “Mal walk me out?” “Yeah come on. I’ll be right back babe” I said getting up from my chair and following Kade outside. As we reached outside. I could see Kade’s emotions written all over her face. “I can’t keep torturing myself Mal. I just can’t!” She said as she hugged me and walked back to the house.

What could I do? Chris has his mind set and Kade wasn’t going to change her mind one bit. They were both stubborn as hell. 

Kambria

This whole Kadence shit was more fucked up than I thought but I had to admit that I liked it. Chris was paying me more attention than I thought he would ever. I had to admit that I was liking every moment of it. He was all I thought him to be like. As I smirked to myself as I opened the fridge and pulled out some yogurt and some fruit. I had two days until my dad was expected back home from his business trip so I had a lot to do before that.

I really couldn’t believe that this whole plan of mine was going so well and I had to make sure that I kept up with the happy front until I fully convinced my dad I was okay. It’s not like I’m all the way good and there’s definitely nights I wake up in cold sweats dreaming of my mom dying a painful death. I’ve just learned to keep my mouth shut and keep my dad happy. My phone started to ring with Keisha’s assigned ringtone. Damn I haven’t heard that tone in a min.

“Hello” I answered while tapping the speaker icon. “What’s up stranger” She said as I grabbed my food and phone to head into the living room. “Nothing same ole shit” I responded plopping on the couch. “Funny cause it looks like you been on Chris’ tip” She said as I smirked to myself. Not yet but I was working on literally being on Chris’ tip. “Girl I’ve been doing me. I don’t have time to be worried about that boy” I lied scooping some yogurt into my mouth. “Cut the bullshit Kam. I heard what happened at the kick back. You’re fucked up for that” She snapped. I nastily chuckled to myself, “Are you mad that Chris is showing me attention. You should be worried about Keeis?”. Keisha laughed loudly, “Not at all but I’m glad I’m seeing your true colors though. How the fuck are you gonna disrespect Kadence like that after she’s let us hang with her and she’s been nothing but nice to us? You’re mad fucked up Kambria. I’m now questioning our friendship”. “Don’t worry about what the fuck I’m doing. It’s really not your business at the end of the day. If you don’t want to be friends that’s a win for me” I replied rolling my eyes as if she could see me do it. “Alright bet. Karma is a bitch and don’t worry about me being all in your business” She said ending the call.

I had to laugh at Keisha’s attitude. It’s the fact she didn’t know not a damn thing about what I’m doing with Chris. It’s all innocent on my part still. I just wanted to be the reason he smiled. 

Keisha 

That bitch Kambria has lost her mind all the way. Who the fuck does she think she thinks she is !? I was beyond done with her ass. It’s sad because we’ve been close since freshman year but it’s like I don’t know who the fuck she is anymore. This whole Chris issue that Kambria was creating was gonna become a issue at school and I refuse to have any part in this bullshit. I tossed my phone and walked in my bathroom glancing at my wrist where my forming bruise was lightly showing. All I can do was shake my head. Lately shit with Keeis and I was becoming too physical. I tried not to be that female who fought back but he was getting too hands on and I ain’t with that bullshit. I noticed he wasn’t just doing weed but he always had a little baggie of white powder. So since our little argument that happened the night of the kick back. I’ve been laying low from his crazy ass. I have too much going on at school and with my business. I softly touched my wrist and winched a little. I knew I was gonna have to cover it up so my moms won’t see it and fire on my ass with the questions. I didn’t need her judging me. 

My phone began to ring loudly with the standard ringtone. I hope it wasn’t him. He was the last person who I wanted to talk to. I sluggishly walked back into my bedroom and glanced at my phone. MARQUIS flashed across the screen. What didn’t he understand!? I didn’t want to fuck with him anymore. The call stopped and I sighed, “I need to get out this damn house”. 

Shit I wonder how Kadence is feeling? I’m sure she’s pissed the fuck off. I immediately grabbed my phone unlocking it to find Kadence’s number. As the line started ringing she picked up on the third ring. “Hello” She answered dryly. “Hey Kadence. I was just calling to check on you” I said hoping she wasn’t mad at me too. “Honestly I don’t want to assume you knew anything about it but I don’t know what to think” She said. “To be honest. I haven’t been talking to Kambria and I didn’t even know she like Chris enough to try to talk to him” I said hearing Kadence sighing deeply. “Thank You. I’m kinda happy you’re not involved because besides Mal you’ve been pretty chill and a real friend” She said as her tone lightened up. 

“Girl I know how you feel and the shit’s that’s going on I wouldn’t wish that shit on anyone” I said as I grabbed my laptop turning it on. “Yeah it is what it is” She said sounding down. “I know. I don’t know you enough to be giving advice but I think if you focus on you that he’ll come back to his senses. Kambria is no one to worry about. She’s a little messed up in the head bitch” I said not regretting any of the words I just said. “Thank you Keisha. I feel like doing something you wanna hang out?” She asked as I grinned and nodded. “I’m down. I’ll come to you?” I asked as I hopped up from the bed and walked to my drawer. “Yeah that’s fine” She said more cheerfully. We spoke a little longer before ending the call. 

This night definitely calls for some weed and some real friendship.

Chapter 15

Keisha

It was a Thursday and I had already had various people blowing me up for business. Making money is always an priority for myself. I never turn down potential business. As I was getting the product together. I heard a light tap on my window. 

The only possible person that would do some shit like that was Keeis. I hadn't seen his fine ass in a minute. I proceeded to my window and opened the blinds to see his goofy ass standing there with two blunts behind his ear. “Only his ass” I mumbled. I unlocked my window and pulled it up. “So you can’t use your phone to text me?” I smartly asked with a big smirk on my lips. “Nah cause some big headed light skin girl can’t reply back” He said as I rolled my eyes and smiled. “Whatever. I was getting my shit together so I can hit that kick back up” I said as I walked back to my dresser. “Damn you ain't got time for a nigga no more huh?” He said as he stood up and dusted himself off. 

“Keeis you sound dumb as hell. You know I've been grinding and actually busy with school” I replied back as I zip locked all the products. “And you know where I stay obviously” I said as I felt him behind me. I couldn't help but get chills up and down my spine. “Well it’s been a minute since we've-” He tried to finish but I quickly cut him off with a kiss. He grabbed my waist and snaked his hands straight to my ass. I moaned against his lips and sucked on his bottom lip as his hands squeezed harder. Keeis always had my body begging for more when we would get started. 

“Babe” I whined as he started in on my neck, licking and sucking on my spot. “Shut that shit up. I ain't seen you in a week” He said ignoring my pleas of pleasure. Little did he know. I was grinding hard so we could have a nice place to go to for spring break. I wanted to go to Miami or Orlando. Do the real spring break experience. I could already feel my bra coming off my body. “Marquis I have to really go” I whined as I shot him the puppy dog eyes. “Man fine! Fine!” He mumbled moving away from me. “Keeis don’t be like that” I pouted as he returned a blank stare back to me. “Well either you coming to make this money with me or you can be in ya feelings” I said slipping into my shoes. “I was going regardless lil nigga. I was just tryna see you first” He said grabbing me towards him. “Mhm, you ready?” I asked bending down to tie my boots up. I felt a stinging sensation on my ass. “Really nigga” I whined rubbing my ass cheek. “It was right there though” He replied with no type of remorse in his tone. I swear he urks my nerves with his asshole mannerisms. 

He lift the window back open and slowly climbed out. I flicked my light off and climbed out the window, closing it behind me. “Hurry yo slow ass up” Keeis said opening his car. “Don’t try my patience Marquis” I said rolling my eyes. He proceeded in the car as I followed to that direction. As I reached the door a text came in quickly. 

Sissy

Make sure your back home before 12:30am. Mama is getting off work at 1am tonight.

I smiled and opened the door sliding in the passenger seat. “It’s about time” Keeis said with a salty tone. I ignored his remark. The only reason he was being petty was we haven’t fooled around in a while. If he really thought I was avoiding his ass he must really be stupid. He started the car and I kept my mouth close. I really wasn’t gonna say anything that would start an argument. As we pulled away from my house. Some PartyNextDoor was playing on the radio. “Keish” I continued to look out the window silently. “Keish” He said again. I turned to look at him expecting him to say something. “I’m sorry” He mumbled lowly. I sucked my teeth and looked away from him. That’s all I get? An half ass apology? Hmm.. I see how we’re gonna do it. As soon as he pulled up to the location of the party. I didn’t hesitate to get out the car. I knew Keeis was gonna be pissed  but fuck his half ass apology. 

Mallory

Of course Mikey just had to drag me out my comfortable bed to go to this kick back but I’m not gonna lie it was active as hell. While Mikey was outside smoking with some guys from school. I was glued to my phone and bobbing my head to the music. Scrolling through my Insta timeline. I received an iMessage from Kade. 

Thing o1

Hey are you at the kick back ? I’m tryna convince myself to go but idk

I instantly smiled reading her text and replying quickly. I suspected that girl who was talking to Chris was gonna be here. I just needed to know exactly what she looked like and who the hell was she. As the room grew more heavy with smoke I could see the guys come back inside from outside. The kick back was turning into a party by the second. The chill smoke music was turning to the ratchet ass clapping jams. Kade better hurry and bring her ass on so I can really turn up. Still focused on my phone. I felt a pair of hands on my waist. Looking up to meet the face was a faded Mikey. “Hey Babe” I said sliding my phone into my pocket. “Why do you stay on your phone Mal?” He asked as I rolled my eyes and pulled him to me. “Shut your faded ass up” I said poking my lips out to him as he placed his on me hard. “Don’t try to shut me up” He said grabbing me closer to him as his hands gripped both of my ass cheeks. I blushed hard and turned around. I slipped my phone out to see another message from Kade.

Thing o1

Is Chris there? I’m not tripping but I rather not see him. Just tryna do me tonight.

I smirked and replied but stopped as Freak No More started to blast through the speakers. I immediately slid my phone in my pocket and began to throw my ass back on Mikey. With no hesitation he gripped my waist and grinded into me. Something about Migos brought the ratchet out of me. I couldn’t help myself. As Ty and I danced on each other. I spotted Chris out the corner of my eye. I squinted hard to make out who the girl he was grinding on but she didn’t look familiar. As the music was changing to another song. I looked to my right to notice Kade standing by the front door with a stone face. “Babe I’ll be right back” I yelled as I headed to Kade’s direction. By the expression on her face she must of discovered who Chris was dancing with. As I became closer to Kade I could see anger all over her face. 

“Bestie!” I said trying to scoop her into a tight hug. “Who the fuck does he think he is” She snickered as I was more lost to what the fuck is going on. “Oh so it’s okay for him to be parading her around but not even try to work on us being something” She gritted. “What?” I asked still lost. “Mal turn the fuck around!” She spat as I quickly let her go and turned to see what she was talking about. Damn this is gonna be a long ass night. “I’m lost as hell” I said as Kade began to walk into the party. “Kade! Wait up man!” I yelled after her as she was quickly weaving her way to Chris. “Fuck man” I mumbled to myself while I was trying to catch up to her before she put her foot up somebody’s ass. As I weaved through the people Keisha stopped Kade. “Thank you Lord” I said finally catching up to them. “Hey Kadence . Hey Mallory” She said hugging Kade then me. “Hey” I said then looking at Kade trying to read her face. “Look I can’t talk right now Keisha. I need to handle something” Kade said looking more than pissed off. 

“Wait what the fuck is going on?” Keisha asked as she was scrunching her face up. “Why don’t you ask your home girl Kambria” Kade said shaking her head with pure disgust on her face. As soon as Kade said that Keisha was scanning the room until she stopped on their location. “Aw shit man” Keisha said with a disappointed look on her face. “Yeah so I need to handle some shit. So if you don’t mind” Kade said excusing herself so she could get to Chris and Kambria.

 “Dammit!” I spat and followed after Kade.

Chapter 14

Mallory

"Kade" I said waiting on her response for the last 10 minutes. "Yeah?" She asked still not looking to me. "Are you fine?" I asked patting her leg. "I'm really not tripping Mal. We're not an item" She said knowing past the pride she felt some type of way. "Like how am I suppose to feel? I'm not gonna keep putting my feelings on the line when he's just gonna keep fucking with my head. I’m good girl" She said as a small tear slowly fell from her eye. "I just wish I never told you" I mumbled as I scooted closer to her. "Me too man" She mumbled back. As we sat in silence. My phone interrupted the foreign silence. 

"Hello?" I answered knowing it was possibly Mikey. "Babe did you tell Kade?" He asked as a cursed myself and biting my lip. "Can we talk about this later?" I asked knowing he was gonna be hot that I slipped up and told Kade. "You told her didn't you!?" He asked as his voice raised. "Don't be getting mad at me and plus this whole thing is hear say" I snapped as I rolled my eyes. "Can I talk to Tyga?" Kade asked. I nodded and handed her my phone. "Hey Ty can you just keep it real with me and let me know what's going on?" She asked as I know Mikey was cursing his self out too for telling me anything. I motioned her to put it on speaker and she did. "Well basically I called Chris yesterday and he said he was chilling with this chick he met recently from the club drama that night" Ty said as Kade nodded her head. "So who is she?" Kade asked as Mikey hesitated. "You’re my best friend too Ty. Just keep it real with me" Kade asked as Mikey sighed. "She goes to school with us but that's all I know. I haven't even seen her" He said. 

"Thanks Ty, I appreciate it" She said then hung up. 

"So what do you wanna do?" I asked because I'm tired of this drama. It's so petty. "I just wanna be over him Mal. That's all I want. I don’t want to keep either or y’all involved" She said as I scooped her into a hug. "I'm just tired of pretending to not be hurt when I see him at school and on top of that I feel for him" She admitted. "Like how?" I asked as she wiped her face and sighed. "Well last summer before we came back for Senior year. He took my virginity. It wasn't a big deal because I knew despite whatever happened between us we'd still be friends. So we continued to have occasional sex in the beginning of first semester" She admitted as I sat there shocked as fuck. I'm not tripping that she didn't tell me. The whole immature situation made sense why she feels how she feels. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you Mal. Everything was happening so fast and it was so unexpected. I thought I could handle him as a sneaky link" She said as sighed and wiped her eyes again. "It's really okay Kade. I just want to figure this shit out" I said as she nodded in agreement. 

"I do too" She said. 

Kambria

Maybe I was stirring the drama pot but Chris is all worth the trouble. He's everything and more what girls around school talked about. He was funny, a smart ass, athletic, and thoughtful. I know I shouldn't be exactly talking to him since Kadence has a thing with him. I'm not exactly doing anything wrong with him but getting to know him. 

As I hopped out the shower. I grabbed a towel for my body and hair. One of the Varsity Basketball players invited me to a kick back tonight. I would be a fool to decline the offer and Chris was possibly gonna be there. The attraction was slowly becoming an obsession. The more I got to know him. I ultimately wanted him to myself. To top it off Dad was out of town and I had the house to myself. I was going to take advantage of the situation. I honestly didn't know what to wear. This new personality I was forming into was unleashing this bitch like character. I bought a few things with my dad's card while he's been away. So this was a good excuse to enjoy my weekend.

As my phone rang. I briefly ignored it as I was looking for my lotion. The ringer stopped but briefly started back up. "Ugh!" I moaned as I walked to my nightstand and grabbed my annoying ass phone. "Hello?" I answered. "Hey baby. How's everything going?" Dad asked as I sighed. "Everything is going good Papi. I bought a few clothes because I didn't have anything new for school" I said as he laughed. "What?" I smiled as I chuckled a little. "I'm just happy that you’re happy baby. It's been awhile and I'm proud of your progress" He said as I was in a sense happy too. "Well thanks. I'm trying" I said as I grabbed some of the shopping bags from the foot of my bed. "Alright I'll let you go baby girl. I'll be back in town on Wednesday night" He said as a devious smirk played on my lips. Stay Scheming was my theme song. That's what I felt was my life in a nutshell. "Okay bye Daddy" I said then hanging up.

For a kickback this shit was active. I carefully pulled my crop top down a little as I was pleased with my simple but pleasant outfit . There was thick weed smoke filling the room up from several corners. I wasn't into the smoking shit like Keisha was. I was probably considered a light weight alcoholic. I was known in my own head to finish a Ciroq bottle in 2 hours by myself. Those were the times when Mama was on mind heavy. 

“Damn ma. You need a drink?” One of the players on Varsity asked as I shrugged and pulled my phone out. “For sure then. I’ll be back” He said walking off. Just as his thirsty ass walked off. Chris’ fine ass walked in from the backyard looking chink as hell. I couldn't help but giggle to myself. He looked even cuter with his faded ass. I waved to him as a smile spread across his lips. “I see you made it shorty”. “Yeah, I told you I’d make an appearance” I said involuntarily twirling my hair around my finger as we shared small talk.  I hate to admit it but I was catching feelings for this nigga and to be honest I wasn't against the whole idea. Our interactions were just natural. 

The guy before came back to us and handed my drink then dapped Chris, “I hope you like it and no I didn't put something foreign in it” He said as Chris laughed shaking his head. “That’s not funny Chris and thanks” I said rolling my eyes playfully at Chris. “No worries ma. Mi Casa is Su Casa” He said proudly smiling. “Gracias” I said smiling half way as the guy walked away. “Anyways did you come by yourself?” He asked as I nodded and stuffing my phone into my pocket. “Really. I thought you would of came with your girls or some shit” He said looking directly at me. “Is that your polite way of saying I’m a loser?” I asked as I smirked back at him. “Not at all shorty” He smartly replied as I was thanking God I was talking to him. 

As the kick back was getting packed the music switched to Migos- Freak No More. “C’mon” Chris said grabbing my hand and pulling me to the dance area.

Chapter 13

Kadence

I’m Over it ! I swear I'm so over Christopher Maurice Brown ! He's so immature on life. I can't deal no longer with this shit so I decided to head to Starbucks before heading all the way home. I don't know what to think of any of this anymore. I let this situation get the best of myself get to me. What are you suppose to do when your falling for your best friend ? Let's be honest he doesn't want me and he’s not ready to take that next step. I'm not his typical light skin type or his type of woman. I rolled my eyes and drove into the Starbucks drive-thru. "Hi welcome to Starbucks! What can I start you with?" The monitor asked as I skimmed the menu list and nodded. 

"Can I please get a Venti Caramel Frapp with extra Caramel and whip cream. Can I also add a chocolate chip cookie warmed up?" I asked as the order was repeated. "Pull to the next window with your price. "Thanks" I said as I drove up and waited behind the car in front of me. Recognize by PartyNextDoor came blasting through my car. "You got niggas and I got bitches. I want you. I want you to turn up on your love" I sung as I bounced in my seat to the beat. My standard ringtone played and buzzed as I turned the music down. 

"Hello?" I asked as the voice came through the speaker. "Hey it's Keisha" She said as I smiled. "What's up girl?" I asked as I pulled up to the window as i tapped the speaker button. "Hello! Your price will be $8.97 please" The cashier said as I handed him a crisp ten dollar bill. "Girl where you are?" She asked laughing. "Starbucks!" I said laughing with her. "Here you are miss with a Venti Caramel Frapp with extra caramel and whip cream and your chocolate cookie" He said handing my items one by one. "Thank you" I said rolling my window and speeding out the drive thru. "So where you headed off to girl?" Keisha asked as I shrugged and sipped on my drink. "Well no where. I just don't wanna head home right away" I said as I pulled up to a stop light. 

"Well if you want to. You can come to my house. I ain't doing shit and you ain't doing shit. We might as well not do shit together" She said as we both laughed. "Alright. Text me the address fool" I said laughing. "Alright girl" She said as I ended the call. A minute later the text popped up with the address. I wasn't gonna look too deep into this. It was weird that I was gonna hang out with Keisha. Don't get me wrong she's super down to earth but I never really hung out with anyone else but Mal and the group at school. My efforts to distant myself from Chris and our affiliates had to be done. He wasn't gonna just disappear. I had to honestly learn how to cope and change my perspective.

"So how you feeling?" She asked as I tried to pull the blankest face I could manage. "I'm fine it's just being in your feelings causes too much drama" I said honestly. "I feel it girl. I’ve been there and done that" She said as I made myself comfy in one of her bean bags. "So how long you been smoking?" I asked because her room smelled of some fragrance. "Long enough to know not to keep the evidence in my house unless I'm gonna smoke with friends or what not" Keisha responded as she text rapidly on her phone. 

"About smoking. Do you think we can light one?" I asked knowing I shouldn't but I needed him off my mind. "Of course. I wanted to ask but I'm not the one to assume" She said as a smile slid on my face. "It's all good. You’re hella chill Keisha. Thanks for calling me in the first place. I appreciate it so much" I said as she nodded and pulled out a box. 

"They don't call me Pussy Kush for nothing. I'll roll us up the good shit girl" She matter-o-factually said. I laughed and watched her intensely start the process.

Chris

Practice literally took the life out of me. Coach wasn't playing any type of games. I slowly dragged my feet in my Jordan flip flops as I exited the locker room. I wonder what Kade is doing. I miss her but us being both stubborn we won't bend anytime soon. That truth alone has me thinking about her a lot more than often. "Aye Breezy you tryna roll to Dee's house?" One of my teammates asked as I remembered I said I meet up with Kambria after practice. "Nah man. I'll catch y'all later though" I said as I pulled my phone out. 

Kambria 

I hope you didn't forget about us meeting up. 

I laughed and slid my phone back into my basketball shorts pocket. Damn I'm not tryna bail on Kambria but I don't want to piss Kade off either. Kade ain't fucking with me though. So why the fuck should I care what she thinks. As I walked out the school building she was standing there looking all types of fine. Her style is none that I've ever seen so that made me content that we were gonna hangout.

"You gonna stand there all day or what?" She laughed as I smiled and walked up to her. "The short ones always have shit to say" I joked as she pushed me and pouted. "I'm just saying!" I said laughing as she smiled and play rolled her eyes. "So let's go already. I'm hungry man" She whined as I laughed and walked to my car. "Lead the way then shorty" I said as she flipped me off and got in her car. I finally opened my car door as I watched Kambria start her car and reverse. 

I don't want to go out on a limb and say that this girl was gonna be the reason why I get Kade off my mind but it was looking like that. Somethings are meant to happen and feelings are meant to be suppressed to protect your heart.

"So what's your story shorty? Why haven't I seen you around campus?" I asked as she scooped a big amount of ice cream into her mouth. She just shrug and continued to scoop ice cream into her mouth. "For real blood" I said making her laugh. "Honestly I don't know. All those years of being unnoticed I just kept to myself" She said as I nodded and tried to steal one of her toppings. "But honestly. I was pissed at life so I wasn't in a place to make friends or whatever" She said looking away. 

Kambria was something else. She said whatever she felt and didn't hold back. I think that's what really has my attention about her. "So what about you Mr. Popular" She said laughing and stuffing her face. "There's really nothing to tell. Feel me?" I said as I shoved ice cream in my mouth trying to ignore the fact that I wasn't trying to expose myself in any type of way. "Oh Hell No! If I have to so do you" She said with some attitude. I sighed. "Basically I'm not popular I just involve myself in activities and social life". "If you say so Mr. Popular" She smartly said with a smirk on her face. "Don't call me that shit man" I said smiling as she smiled too. 

My phone began buzzing on the table briefly interrupting us. She continued to eat her ice cream. "Wassup" I said answering the phone and getting up. "Bruh what you doing?" Ty asked as I looked over to Kambria then back ahead. "I'm just chilling with a friend" I said stuffing my free hand in my sweat pockets. "Nigga you ain't got no friends besides Kade, Mal, and me" Ty said as I shook my head and cracked a smile. "Nigga I'm allowed to have more than one friend. But we still on for later on?" I asked not trying to keep Kambria waiting too long. "Yeah I'm down. So who you with?" Ty's nosey ass asked. "A female. That's all you need to know" I said as this nigga howled on the other end. "You wild Ty but I'll hit you later man" I said as I hung up. 

I walked back in and slid my phone back into my pocket. "My bad about that" I said as she smiled. "I'm not tripping. No worries" She said smiling again. This girl is something else. "Well I got to head home anyways. I have so much homework that it's annoying" She said play rolling her eyes. "Damn you tryna make excuses already?" I joked as she rolled her pretty green eyes and smiled. "I'm kidding but I'll talk to you later" I said as we both stood up. "Yeah for sure" Kambria said smiling as we walked to the exit and I held the door open for her. "Thanks again Chris" She blushed as her smile widened and her cheeks turned red. 

"Alright then bye" I said turning to my car. 

I had to see her again.
