Did you know that the Pearly Green Lacewing (Chrysopa perla) is a lacewing found in cool, woody areas in much of Europe and Asia? The body is mostly green, but with a bunch of black spots all over. Typically active in the spring and summer months, these are excellent predators of aphids in all stages of life. This lacewing lays her eggs near aphid colonies, giving her children a bountiful feast throughout their lives.

Green lacewing (Chrysopa perla)

The Green lacewing is a species of Neuropteran belonging to the family Chrysopidae (subfamily Chrysopinae). This widespread species is present in most of Europe. The adults reach 10–12 millimetres of length, and are fearsome predators, primarily feeding on aphids, occasionally on flower nectar. The females usually lay eggs near aphid colonies. Larvae are predators, mainly feeding on Aphididae and Coccidae species.
