Before being taken to the killing fields, any victim who was thought to be associated with the government in any way was taken to Security Prison 21, a former high school that was made in to a torture prison. This is now the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, and houses a history of deep pain. This was one of at least 150 execution centers in the country and over 20,000 people were killed here. We were fortunate to meet two survivors of the regime, Chum Mey and Bou Meng.
