chuunin exam gaara:
Naruto Episode #21
today i learned: something pretty insane and funny and seemingly so outlandish as a coincidence, that also sorta blew my mind...
(i wonder if i'm just a cavedweller or if ppl never mentioned this much before truly because it's not a well-known thing?)
(so i guess im recording it here for myself / posterity.)
these Ame nin are "hopefuls" for the chūnin exam from Naruto.
(who?)
right. they are unnamed and appear (only) in Episode 21, at the start of the arc, roughly right after Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro (also, briefly, the Sound 3) are introduced.
but interestingly, the character in the middle bears a ridiculous resemblance to obito, especially when in his tobi disguise minus the mask(s), as if it is a "disguise look" obito would go for using henge: the bandages around his forehead, the scars on the right side of his face, even the missing eye... (tho the sides are switched here)
but this "Ame nin" never has any lines and basically only appears in this one shot.
his teammates, however, go on to "bully" / attack naruto and his team.
but later we find out they are actually Iruka. in henge.
he has ostensibly conspired with kakashi and the rest of the konoha jōnin for that (rookie) class of genin (the Konoha 9) to test their subordinates and see if they are prepared for the chūnin exam.
(because god forbid your child soldiers get killed or badly hurt at an exam instead of a live battlefield-)
anddd here's the kicker. these Ame nin (Iruka's disguises) — who attacked Naruto, who entered the village as teammates of the Ame nin weirdly giving off discount Obito vibes — are voiced by none other than Wataru Takagi, the VA for Tobi / Uchiha Obito.
oookay tomfoolery aside, i'm pretty sure this is all filler/non-canon (anime-only) tho, so meh, but hey, still interesting, esp considering at this point in time it's reaaally unlikely kishimoto's vision, let alone final design, of adult unmasked obito has even been formed.
so, hey, what are the chances that this commonly accepted / fandom-wide idea just plain wrong, and this was actually some kinda tongue-in-cheek little easter egg — and not just a miraculously ludicrous happenstance?
who knows! but anyways, it's still pretty damn hilarious to me that iruka's disguise (henge) voice — for older foreign nin who bully local 12-year-olds — is somehow, in anime canon... obito's voice.
(guess the fanfic / hc ppl can go wild with that one, lol.)
Ino and Yukiko getting prepared
“Am I strong? I just want the answer to that. I can’t forgive even you, if you take that away from me.”

What I don’t understand is how can a ninja cheat?
When Naruto took the chuunin exam cheating was encouraged in the first part as long as you didn’t get caught. Then later on, Naruto questioned if certain things were allowed in the exam (Ninja dog, puppet, bugs, ect.) and all of them were consider ninja tools. It seemed to me that everything could be consider ninja tool and rules didn’t really matter and Ninjas are all about using tricks and deceit to complete their missions.
So how does Boruto cheat in the exam (I’m thinking he used something electronic b/c of promos and other spoilers) and why is it consider cheating?
