One time dazai and chuuya got in an argument and dazai brought chuuyas DID into it (this was when they were teenagers and he really didn't understand the extent of it)
Dazai never forgave himself for that.
Give me that angst :smiles:
Okay so... Dazai at 15 does NOT get DID and doesn't put any effort into trying to understand it. He asks intrusive questions (usually with the intention of making Chuuya angry or embarassed), is not helpful at all when Chuuya dissociates (he likes to throw small paper balls at him until he reacts) and sometimes makes fun of Chuuya for forgetting things. Although he means this in a light hearted and jokey way, it doesn't come across this way to Chuuya (although maybe Dazai is trying to push Chuuya away by making these comments, he's in a confusing place).
However this all kinda blows up one day when Dazai and Chuuya are arguing, it's not a serious argument, but in Dazai's eyes Chuuya is going to win said argument, and he can't let that happen. Then Dazai says something along the lines of 'hey, maybe you should stop pretending to have other people in your head, makes you look crazy.'
He knows he's struck a nerve when he looked back at Chuuya who is staring at the floor with a blank expression. When he tries to backtrack what he said, Chuuya just turns and bolts. Dazai tried to follow but Chuuya is gone by the time he follows.
He doesn't see Chuuya the next day and Kouyou pulls him aside and makes him feel so guilty, explaining that Chuuya came to her sobbing, demanding that she fix what's wrong with him. She then explains how DID is formed (of course Chuuya hasn't told him this because he worries that it would make him seem weak), she also explains that there is no cure, that it will be with Chuuya forever and that he needs to stop being a dick.
Needless to say, she tears into Dazai and even though he apologizes to Chuuya that same day, there's an air of iciness between there for a long time after.
