There is a low thrum in her veins, when something or someone draws near. The feeling harkens back to past events that transpired over the months in her line of work: protecting lands under the stewardship of nature spirits, settling a dispute amongst werewolf clans, and providing amnesty for those who need it. From the corner of her eye, she would always catch the stark white fur of a creature lingering behind. It has always been around, its watchful amethyst eyes falling upon her. For how long? Roxanne doesn’t know, but just when she is on the verge of confronting it, she only catches the flick of all nine of its tails before it disappears. What’s worse is that she doesn’t know if the creature is a harbinger of doom or a good omen. She’s encountered plenty of those and at some point, they are all one and the same...
And now, that feeling returns, even when she is browsing through produce at a Superstore. Warily, she surveys the area, finding customers milling about, inspecting any fruit or vegetable catching their fancy before continuing on with their search. Other than the din of soft murmurs and harsh squeaks of shopping cart wheels, the day has been awfully quiet. That was until the persistent drone of ichor rushing through her body made its way to her eardrums on the sudden intrusion of divinity, breaking the monotony of what could have been a peaceful day off.
She suddenly turns around to find a plastic bag of tomatoes being offered to her by a seemingly friendly face. Instinctively the godling takes a step back, bristled by the presence of the something celestial and something familiar. And she swears she catches the essence of moonlight in the other’s eyes, briefly flickering over glamoured brown. Steadying her nerves, Roxanne contemplates on accepting the bag of “almost-too-good-to-be-true” tomatoes offered by the divine stranger. On one hand, it could be a wicked trick, and on the other, it could be a gesture of spontaneous benevolence.
Possible consequences be damned, she elects to accept the unexpected gift for the sake of peacekeeping. ❝Uuuuh... thanks.❞ She says, while taking a quick peek at the tomatoes. ❝I have a feeling we met somewhere, before?❞
