This was SUCH a good book and I definitely teared up multiple times while reading it.

Aideen is incredible. She’s scared and lonely and under so much pressure to hold her and her mum together and she keeps this all so close to her chest, too scared to let anyone in to see how bad it is because she doesn’t want social services to take her away from her mum. And gosh, my heart ached for her. So, so much.

I absolutely loved the plot with Aideen solving peoples problems for favours. It was so much fun and it really helped give an insight into all these characters and what made them tick.

I loved that Aideen developed a community through this, too. A group of people who were willing to help her, to include her, to simply smile at her like she mattered to them. Because she did. And I especially loved the moment she let her two new best friends (one of them maybe her new girlfriend) in all the way.

And that last page? All of the feels.

Hey! I was wondering if you have any recs for any kind of queer book set in Ireland / by Irish authors (or, ideally, both)? I read At Swim, Two Boys by Jamie O'Neill a few years ago and it still has me biting and screaming when I think about it

Well definitely not the same vibes, but Ciara Smyth and Adiba Jaigirdar are both Irish Sapphic YA authors who set books in Ireland. In Adult, I think you're probably looking at Sally Rooney - try Conversations with Friends!
