Cicerone Program to Hit Australia in February
The Local Taphouse in St Kilda hosted a meet and greet last month with Cicerone founder, Ray Daniels - who unveiled plans to expand the Cicerone program into Australia with the first exam to be held in February 2016. Ray’s vision for the Cicerone program has been to raise the standard of beer service and provide a better drinking experience for patrons.
The demand for quality beer is increasing exponentially in Australia and with it, the expectations of consumers. Members of the brewing industry along with publicans and enthusiasts will now have the opportunity to become certified in what has become the gold standard in beer knowledge, recognition and service.
Steve Jeffares, Co-Founder of The Local Taphouse has been behind the push to introduce the Cicerone program to Australia. He has implemented a number of beer education programs in the past but is excited to take advantage of the recognised standard. Steve intends for every member of his staff to reach the level of Certified Beer Server in the Cicerone program with some taking on the challenge of attaining Certified Cicerone status.
People interested in taking the exam in February are encouraged to join a Facebook page that has been established to help potential Cicerones connect with others to discuss the program, join study groups and keep informed of exam dates and other news.
