I can’t really say how you’re supposed to pronounce “CILVR”, but I have a feeling it might be an amusing way in which to spell “silver”; feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. The Scandi-pop artist from Stockholm is utterly enthralling on silvery new single Bound To Die, which has drawn comparisons to Billie Eilish, Lykke Li, and Kate Bush. CILVR, who was granted a prestigious STIM’s scholarship, is an independent artist who was raised in a home of classical music and spent her childhood backstage at concert halls around the world. She draws from her esoteric experiences to craft a song both organic and electronic, fusing the two sides of the spectrum to create a fresh indie pop sound of her own. Crisp crinkling, nimble prancing, and bass staccato Bound To Die reflects on the up and down rollercoaster ride of a breakup. CILVR explains: “Bound to Die was written in a small city in the North of Sweden. It’s about a breakup and the feelings you have when you’re trying to move on from something. The song paints a picture of the feeling when you’ve decided to separate but still need each other.” The sophomore single follows on CILVR’s debut, Hideaway, a dark dreamy flux of synth oscillating, airy gusting bliss that you can stream below.
