Althea and Amirah, Truelove Seeds apprentices, practice supporting the broccoli rabe flowers / seedheads to keep them off the ground. Maybe a month or so ago, we transplanted the ones that are now flowering, and direct seeded the now luscious green ones (both Cima di Rapa). Clearly they much preferred direct seeding. Or maybe, it’s more that we prefer the direct seeded ones - it’s hard to know what’s in the hearts and minds of the plants - maybe they like flowering early.
