Cimourdain is a narcissistic father! He only likes Gauvain because he sees in him an idealized son to do his bidding… see the chapter in which they meet again and Cimourdain begins to idealize Gauvain's future.

I don't think narcissistic is the correct word, I mean it is true that Cimourdain expects too much from Gauvain but it's obvious that he loves him a lot. He compares himself to Chiron and Gauvain to Achilles and, well, we know for a fact that Gauvain is nothing like the bloody Achilles. That's what he wants Gauvain to be like, but he isn't. But i don't think that makes him a narcissist?

Anyways I only said I like him as a character not that he's a great person 😭
