Spoilers for Cinder by @gentrychild which I highly recommend you read. Seriously, it’s great.
Izuku swept the sword upwards, a massive gust of wind blasting the flames away.
I’m…alive?
Even with the sword redirecting most of the flames, at that range the heat alone should have killed him. Had something protected him? Izuku felt a strange power buzzing through his body. Unfortunately, he didn’t have much time to think about it because the gold dragon was still coming for him.
Izuku’s arms ached from that previous attack but he could still use them. Izuku charged at the dragon and swung the sword, sending another blast of air at its head. The dragon flinched, giving Izuku the opening he needed.
Power surging through his legs, Izuku leapt through the air at the monster that had once been his hero, aiming for the throat.
The dragon ducked to the side, avoiding Izuku’s swing. Izuku hit the edge of the cave, then tumbled into the pile of gold, stopping near a stone pillar. Groaning in pain, Izuku made a mental note to write a Kacchan-worded complaint to whoever wrote that stupid book where a guy dove into a pile of gold like it was water.
The golden dragon was walking toward him, teeth bared. Izuku realized he’d dropped Toshinori’s sword. He couldn’t fight. He got to his feet, but the moment he put weight on his leg it throbbed with pain. He couldn’t run.
The dragon lashed out with its claw. Izuku raised his arms to protect himself and to his surprise, he was holding Toshinori’s sword again.
The sword cut the dragon’s paw, drawing blood. The dragon glared with a hate that did not belong in the eyes of the man that had been the world’s greatest hero, and Izuku realized what he had to do to survive.
He may be bereft, but there was one thing he could do no one else at Aldera could. A side of himself he’d hated because for where it had come from. Who it had come from. A side he’d tried very hard to bury.
Izuku reached into himself and tried to call it forth, but nothing came. It had been so long…and he’d try so hard to suppress it…he couldn’t…
The dragon unleashed another burst of flame. Izuku rolled behind the pillar and used an air blast from his sword to keep the flames from wrapping around it. However, he knew that unless he came up with a plan, the next attack would be the last.
As Izuku’s mind raced for a solution, his free hand fell on his notebook.
He knew what he had to do.
Izuku rolled out to where the dragon could see him. He got into a fighting pose and raised his sword. The dragon readied to attack. Izuku threw his notebook at the dragon’s face, which the it destroyed in a short burst of fire.
It was all Izuku needed.
Rage filled him at the destruction of his notebook, his notes on the blessings of various knights, his classmates, his neighbors. Those notes were his. HOW DARE YOU DESTROY THEM!
With a roar, Izuku finally transformed into an emerald dragon, slashing the golden one’s face. As the gold dragon backed away, Izuku unleashed a jet of green flames at the monster’s face. The golden dragon roared in pain as the fire burned its open wound.
Izuku was bereft. He shouldn’t be able to shoot flames! And yet…that same feeling from before of not being alone, the power pulsing through his body. He remembered how All Might’s sword returned to his hand. Something it should only do for Toshinori.
What is this?
The golden dragon shook its head and roared in rage. Izuku spread his emerald wings as he roared back, letting the strange power flow through him.
Toshinori may be able to use flames, but he’d failed to show any of the sheer strength a dragon using the Paladin’s blessing should have. This suggested he wasn’t using it properly. Not only that but his attacks were mindless, instinctive, not a hint of rational thought behind them. It almost resembled corruption…
More importantly, as Toshinori would doubtlessly know, smaller and younger or not, there is a big difference between a dragon by curse and a dragon by birth.
This fight was already over.
As Izuku went for Toshinori’s throat, he noticed his father’s bones grinning at the two of them and bitterly noted that if his father was indeed somewhere looking up at them, he’d be very proud of what Izuku was about to do…

The Moon and Back Masterlist, Part Two
Cinder returned home with her thoughts still back at the market. That girl, Stella, had stolen from her, and Cinder couldn’t even bring herself to be mad at her. She was probably living on the streets by herself with no food or money. Not even a teenager yet. As Cinder looped through the back entrance to the elevator, she felt guilt like a weight on her shoulders for not helping her.
What did Cinder!Izuku do to gain Second‘s love?
I can't tell you because it's a spoiler if I ever write a second part to Cinder but the facial scar and the attitude probably didn't hurt.
I-is the dragon dad might fic a-also.. dfo?
A riddle for the ages.
In cinder if AM survived (and probably killed izuku) would he realise/remember what he had done.
Yes and that's probably the reason why he would stay in his current form. There are some things you can't live with.
Dare I say cinder hurt me more than corruption :(
Aww, thank you so much, Anon! I wrote Cinder because I missed Corruption!
I just finished Cinder and Gentry... I am suing for emotional damages. I loved it and I loved it and I loved it, but it hurt sooo bad. Thank you
You're welcome!
