Hi, did you get the newest version of SimPE to work on Linux? If yes, can you please do y mini tutorial? Thanks!
Hello! Just to double-check, you mean this one that was updated today? If yes, no I haven't checked it out yet. I'm not home tomorrow, but I'll see if I can get it to run on Sunday or some time next week.
Hi! SimPe on Linux gives me the "You need to install Direct X Managed 3D"-Error. The question is - how? I've tried a few things, e.g. installing the restributable via wine, but it doesn't seem to work. Do you have any idea how to get it to work? Kind regards :)
Hi Cindy. I am so sorry in the delay in replying to you.
I haven't actually tried to get SimPE running on Linux. I still have TS2 installed on my Win11 laptop, so I do all SimPE editing on that, just transferring files back and forth as needed.
I did find this post from @mortia, with an answer from @kittythesnowcat. To quote:
"I am playing Sims3 so I am not using SimPe, but I quickly started it in my S3Pe prefix and it seems to run fine. According to the Software Manager I have Microsoft .Net Framwork 2.0 + 4.61 Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 installed in there. Hope this helps :)"
Hopefully this helps!
Heart of the Village Replies
@cindysimblr: It's really pretty! I also love the idea of doing laundry on a community lot, didn't think of that, but it really makes sense.
I wanted my sims to be able to (at least in headcanon) meet up and chat while doing laundry, so putting @sunmoon-starfactory laundry rocks in the village centre made absolute sense. If you don’t have washing machines in your tribe, why not turn it into a social activity? :)
@niamh-sims: It looks awesome, Quin. I like how you have used terrain paint, particularly around the stream/pond. I also love the sweat tent!
I’m trying to scale back on the terrain paint and use it to add detail rather than cover every single pixel of ground on the lot like I used to do. The stream/pond bit is one bit I’m particularly pleased with, I’m glad other simmers think so too!
@episims: I love all the little paths. Would you know where I could find the log benches?
Always happy to answer a WCIF - the log benches are part of a Secret Santa gift by VampireKiss6661 at Plumb Bob Keep. Click here to grab them, the pictures in the post don’t work but the download button does. :)
And to all three of you: thanks so much for those comments! You’ve put a great big smile on my face, which is very much needed given that I’m troubleshooting my default replacement folders to find the cause of those apartment crashes. Simblr hugs <3
A reply to @cindysimblr, related to this post: I can see my horizon, skybox and cloudbox even when the lot skirt size it set to 36. Here’s the difference:
I was about to show 50 too but I can’t honestly spot any difference between it and 36. I don’t have many lots from which I can see far enough to notice the disappearing part with the lower setting.
As I wrote this I realized that I only have neighborhood deco skyboxes in my game so I’m not sure how the settings work with the ones that are placed on lots, sorry. But maybe trying different numbers with those too would be worth a shot?
Late replies!
Under the cut!
The midnight express
Cassandra Goth boards a mysterious train to get to a town that should not even exist…a town where things unheard of happen, and creatures only known from movies are alive…Strangetown.
“But if there is any chance my mother is still alive, I need to look for her. I need to find her.”

Coral Oldie 🎵🍦❤️🐶🥘
🎵: Music they listen to
The jam band radio station. She wants to support her granddaughter Lilith, but all that metal makes her ears bleed. Jam Band is a nice compromise - it sounds young but is also pleasing to the ear.
🍦: Ice-cream Flavour
You can't go wrong with vanilla, can you? Herb always tries to get her to try out new flavours, but she has been eating vanilla for the past fifty years and won't stop now just because something fancier came along...
❤️: OTP
Herb! They're very troubled in my game but I don't doubt they'll end up together (again). They're so different, yet so adorable together.
🐶: Pet or favorite Animal
Coral loves cats. She has thought about getting one now that they're both retired...
🥘: Favourite Food
You can't beat her spaghetti! Herb's mother told her the recipe shortly before she died and it has been an Oldie staple ever since (to the joy of Herb!)
