When did you hike the AT? I made it to Pearisburg last year but had to stop due to foot injuries, then did work for stay for a month at Woods Hole Hostel. Love your pictures!
My thru-hike was ten years ago, at this point. I managed to do the entire thing, Georgia to Maine. It took me almost exactly six months. I recently got a new computer and when I transferred over all my files I got to looking at my AT pictures. This is pretty much the first time I’ve looked at them since I took them, so it’s been a pretty nostalgic project for me. Trying to identify them all is a bit of a challenge. I actually labelled them all by file name every night during the hike, but that part of my journal is currently in storage. I can partially identify them using the regular journal I kept...but reading that thing is painful at this point. I was not in a happy place when I started my hike...though I certainly was when I finished.
I’m sorry to hear that you were prevented from finishing by injury. Do you have any plans to try again? Or maybe start section-hiking it from Pearisburg north? At least you dropped out at a decent spot. Woods Hole is definitely one of the nicer hostels along the way, and by ending there you didn’t have to deal with the “Virginia Blues” that ended more than a few hikes when I was out there.
