Andy: So you’re part of Cingle Records who are a brand new label. What attracted you to go with them (ahead of more established labels) whilst trying to make a name for yourself? Not being an artist myself I guess it’s difficult to say, but you have big labels such as Big Machine, yet you could argue they perhaps don’t give artists the creativity they need. Was the ability to create your own record an influential factor? Rainey: So Russ Atherton who is my manager and also produces my album, he started Cingle records to launch me as an artist. He’s wanted to have his own record label for years, but never had an artist he felt that he could start one with. Whenever I was in Nashville, he set up writing sessions, we really hit it off. It has a lot of benefits to it (in comparison to a larger label) I am the only artist so I get a lot of attention! (laughs) I can be really fluid and be like guys I really wanna go to the UK and have a tour there and have a presence in England and they were like let’s do it. With a big label it doesn’t really matter what you say so much. We don’t have the same power and marketing ability as the big labels do but there are pro’s and con’s to everything.
