•Very big fan of having you wear his coat, regardless of how ridiculous it may look given the height difference ( if there is one ). Seeing you in it just scratches something in his brain.
•Protective. Very, very protective- one could argue that it's nearly obsessive with how he holds you close, that hook curved around your waist. Never to harm, never- only to hold. To better shield you with his own form.
( Fits the trope of “I would kill for them.” VERY well. )
•Buys you jewelry. No, no- nothing gaudy, gods no. But those delicate golden chains with a precious gemstone dangling from? Rings with woven bands that are inlaid with precious jewels? Just casually, too. He'll come in to your shared suite at the end of the day with a black box tied with a ribbon. Surprise.
•He enjoys hearing you read out loud. When the two of you are alone and he's going over The ledgers for Rain Dinners? Or, later on, for the Cross Guild? Sitting before his desk while you relax on a chaise lounge, reading your book- or even better, something of importance to him. He could fall asleep to the sound.
( and has. )
•Loves, Loves, LOVES when you cook for him. Claims that nothing will ever taste as good as the food that his amore makes. HOWEVER- when it comes to making certain dishes, he will take over. He's very particular about sauces, you see? If you don't use enough salt…
•Has gifted you a Bananawani.
•Who needs a scary dog when you have Sir Crocodile two steps behind you whenever you go somewhere? Anything you want, you get- regardless of the price.
•…can and will fall asleep with his head on your lap if you brush your fingers through his hair. Sometimes, it's nice to be taken care of.
•He Does Not Smoke In Your Rooms. in his office? Sure. Outside? Of course. But when you are in your bedroom? Not a cigar in sight. ( He doesn't want your clothes to smell like cigar smoke. )
The duo ever I should post about them more not in ask games fr fr. Also thank you Cinna!!!
I already answered 3 for Aloysius here, but I'll do 4 and 20 still.
Aloysius | 4. And reverse, which one of the four things (name, personality, appearance, and role) did you struggle with the most?
I guess I would say personality?
The role came together very quickly because I knew what had to be done to get what's now the Lotus section. And even the stand I had the idea mostly figured out and I was listening to Rise Against while working on the design, and Midnight Hands came on and it was like so perfect for everything I already wanted. Design too wasn't very difficult. It was pretty much one attempt and I was satisfied. And name was a name yk.
Aloysius' base personality was very gloomy, very macabre, and losing sight of logic when they were angry. That hasn't changed, but in an older set of asks I threw together a backstory of sorts for them. It doesn't really feed into Watch Me Bloom at all, it just exists to flesh them out some more. It was pretty difficult though because I was content with Aloysius just joining the race and being after the corpse in the interest of money, and generally hating people.
Aloysius | 20. Bonus question: share any additional thoughts, art, favourite scenes, anything you've been waiting for a chance to ramble about
I guess friends already know this but I haven't talked about it online yet. Midnight Hands got a mini update when I restructured the story, and now it really leans into the spider aspects. For one, if the hands make direct contact with your skin, they can inject a venom into you which induces fever, hallucinations, fatigue, nausea, distorted perception of time, and temporary paralysis. It also leaves a darkened mark on the skin that can escalate into necrosis. The longer the contact is held, the more severe and lasting the symptoms are.
Hot Pants gets choked by Midnight Hands in the inital fight and it leaves her and really bad shape on top of her normal levels of paranoia and hallucinations in the story, coming to a head in one of my favorite newer scenes where Hot Pants tries to cut out (imagined) spiders from under her skin.
Also Midnight Hands spins webs now, which I think is fun and I really need to draw something with that in mind. Her and Cicely are just spider and centipede which is so funny because I hate bugs. They really are such a duo to me, I couldn't imagine separating them even though they aren't particularly close.
Oh and also also! When they're really pissed off the hands turn into spider legs instead and they are very sharp and good for stabbing *wink wink*.
Cicely | 17. Are there any motifs or symbols associated with the character? How are they represented, in their design, personality or in some other way?
Most obviously, centipedes, mirrors, and crosses.
Centipedes most obviously in her stand, but her pigtail zipties are meant to mirror the legs. She's a big fan of bugs and nature too so it all just ties together. She's also the reason I want to get a big centipede tattoo on my arm, I may hate bugs but also I kind of love centipedes now at the same time.
Mirrors are such a big thing in Watch Me Bloom, and unintentionally at that, but it kept coming up since Hot Pants is doing a whole lot of self reflection throughout the fic, and sometimes literally. The mirror aspect again ties into Cicely's stand as it's underbelly is entirely a mirror, but also the ability is a reflection of the target's fears and desires and brings things deep down to the surface. It's forcing them to face themselves, through both sanity and it's void, but also by the literal manifestations crawling through reflections into reality. On top of that, the framing in her shirt is modeled after a confessional so just,, yeah.
And on that topic, Cicely would have been one to struggle with viewing herself after what happened to her at the convent, and while she knows she was not at fault, she still feels broken and used and it hurts to look and see what was taken from her.
Crosses are probably the smallest, as their not present in her stand and their only on her stole and necklace in her design, but I think they do well to represent her genuine love for the faith despite seeing those in authority as monsters. One of the earliest aspects to Cicely too was her desire to hold a role like a priest, but being told she would never be worthy of it because she was a woman. Her stole is a bit of a call out to that, and it's still part of her story now.
Cicely | 19. What is your general favourite thing about the character? What is your least favourite?
HHH so hard to pick, I really do love Cicely a lot. Is it a cop out to say I appreciate how developed a character she's become. I've always been attached to her but of all my jojo ocs I think she has to most going on with backstory and sillies and presence in the story. And it makes me happy that she's pretty well received too, she gets more love than Aloysius does (Side note: I've been meaning to make a poll with the two of them across platforms).
I think least favorite would probably be tied to her motivations in Broken Mirrors. It kind of never made sense to me why she would get in the way when Hot Pants was headed towards they Vatican and doing what Aloysius wanted, but I've since revisited the fight and figured it out so it's fine now! That also feels like a cop out answer but truthfully there's not much about Cicely I actively dislike.
I guess I also don't like that it only makes sense for her to die, because I feel bad doing that to her. Girl's been through the most she doesn't deserve that too. That being said I do love her death? So I also don't wanna take it out I just feel bad about it.
Cicely | 20. Bonus question: share any additional thoughts, art, favourite scenes, anything you've been waiting for a chance to ramble about
Here's a little thing from an old class assignment cause I talked too much for the Aloysius one. This is a theoretical fighting game on the train stage for Broken Mirrors. The associated fun fact is that Cicely is 6'1, and also that I used a photo of Mavs as pose reference for Cicely.
And for extra sillies have the other art from that assignment.
For Dobson’s claim of “TLJ is about women teaching men” and claiming that Rise of Skywalker felt like a step back feels wrong? I just watched Rise of Skywalker yesterday and it felt like A LOT of women were there helping, especially when it came to make characters (I mean... Is he just going to ignore Rey or Leia’s parts or..?). It’s still a dumb notion but nonetheless I felt that it was a bit wrong and was just so clearly obvious he wasn’t paying attention. But that’s just my take
I think it’s less he wasn’t paying attention and more that he wants to keep pushing this warped narrative of his that “the only people who didn’t like The Last Jedi are sexists and racists”. He made multiple strawmen comics and ranted about it over and over again on his tumblr and Facebook. I doubt he actually believes it himself, he’s just trying to put up the appearance of a good male feminist.
But you are right, he’s intentionally ignoring ignoring the women’s contributions in the movie just to push his own narrative. He does it all the time.
hhhhhhh nsfw with belial??? (btw good luck on this blog!!!!!)
Ulterior Motives - Part One | Part Two
There’s a tense sense of caution among the crew tonight.
By all means, this is out of the ordinary. Acquiring new recruits is usually a cause for celebration—and sure, that’s what it may look like on the surface: there’s mead in your glass and the flicker of the lantern in front of you graces a homely half-light on the messy circle of people gathered around it. As is usually customary, everyone has split off into smaller groups, and though you usually like to dot around them over the course of the night, you can’t find the heart to ditch the one you’re in right now.
Nobody here is stranger to making unlikely allies out of former enemies, but Belial sticks out like a sore thumb among the close-knit assembly of the Grandcypher crew nevertheless. Even Hallassena looks a little put-off as she chews on her cutlet, eyeing him with a distinct sense of distrust that has you feeling a little bad for him.
Sure, he’s crass, slimy, overly antagonistic, and you certainly can’t blame Katalina for ushering all the kids to the other side of the deck when he puts his foot in his mouth with some mention of sodomy, but it still seems like a shame to leave him to his own devices during (what should be) his welcome party. You’ve been trying not to make it obvious, but you can tell Belial knows exactly what’s going on. He has to be aware that everyone is avoiding him.
“You must really like this spot,” he says, from his seat next to yours, when the two of you are alone (not for the first time that evening). “Everyone else is jumping from group to group, and yet for some reason, you haven’t left my side all night.” The way he holds his glass of wine is deceptively conservative. You know that it functions as more of a weaponised prop to him than anything else—something to flash his enigmatic grin over while he waits for your response.
“Got bored of me, have you?” you ask, rocking back and forth on the barrel you’re sat on. “Don’t worry, I’ll go as soon as we find someone else willing to put up with you.”
There’s something about the way he looks at you that always makes you feel like you’re walking right into a trap, and the grin that takes over his face is no exception.
“Well, in that case…” he begins, and your gut is screaming: danger, danger, danger, “maybe I should take care to make sure that doesn’t happen.”
The rocking stops. “What are you talking about?”
“Nothing at all,” he says, but even at best, it sounds like foreshadowing. Belial looks almost prideful as he appraises everyone’s uncomfortable side-ways glances in his direction, and you’re beginning to think he’s not feeling as sorry for himself as you might suspect. “Say, how many inappropriate jokes do you think Will can stomach? It seems like he wants to come check with us.”
With a sudden realisation, you sit up straight. “You’re doing this on purpose,” you proclaim, doing your best to hold, what you hope, is an intimidating expression.
“I don’t know what you mean.”
With a frustrated huff, you look away from him. “God, I should have known you were just being an ass the whole night.” You make a dramatic display of standing up and dusting yourself off but you’re not nearly as annoyed at him for tethering you to his side all night as you should be, which by itself is enough to piss you off.
He doesn’t look urgent as he reaches his hand out for yours, but you think he might care about you leaving more than you assumed, judging from the thought he puts into seductively rubbing his thumb across your skin.
“Will you forgive me if I tell you that I wanted to have you to myself tonight?” All traces of subtlety smoulder in his suggestive smile. Even his tone, usually seeping with arrogance, takes on a honeyed loll—hand-crafted just to ease you into reading between the lines.
“I won’t sleep with you Belial,” is what you tell him. You don’t expect that to put him off, and you’re right.
“Why is that?” His grin is conspiratorial: it stirs in your belly, sticks needles up your spine. It’s remarkable how after all this time nothing has curbed the inherent sliminess of his demeanour. You doubt anything ever will.
“Would you sleep with someone you don’t trust?”
You swear his grin gets wider.
“Depends on the person.” It’s too easy to lose yourself in the way his hand trails further upwards. He’s running slow circles on the inside of your elbow, and you despise the disproportionate blaze of frustration when he stops, for barely a moment.
You know he’s looking for your reaction. That the way he looks you up and down (even tilts his barrel towards you to get a better look, the bastard) is no more than him watching for the first sign of breakage. Stubbornly, you harden your features to rob him of the satisfaction, but the feeling of being trapped returns threefold when he looks away from you, like he’s found what he was looking for, and you realise with a lurch to your throat you’ve just given yourself away.
“Why the long face?” he asks. You can tell just from his tone that he sees right through you. “I’ve only seen you this serious in front of your enemies.”
“I suppose you would know; you used to be one of them.”
You’re surprised when his ever-present grin wipes into a serious grimace, and you wonder, not without a little bit of satisfaction, that maybe you’ve struck a nerve.
“Is the idea of sex with me really so unappealing?” he asks, as his hand drops to his side.
The most credible refusal would be to immediately laugh in his face, but by the time you’ve finished being surprised at the sincerity of his bitterness, you don’t have the heart for it. You doubt little more than his pride is on the line, but it’s clear that he does, to some degree, care about this. Maybe more than he might let on, given the impatient way he glances you over as he waits for your response.
“Not quite,” is what you tell him. “If that was all it was, I’d gladly ditch these pleasantries and hole up in a closet with you for half an hour.”
Belial surprised at your boldness, but pleasantly so, judging from the way he takes hold of your hand again and coaxes you to stand closer. “Then what’s the problem?”
You give him an exasperated look.
It’s hardly been a week since he joined the Grandcypher, and in-between his constant attempts to turn the dynamic of your crew into constant sparks of drama, the flirty gestures he sends your way when Sandalphon is looking, and his general, slimy approach to getting under people’s skin, you know him well enough to assume he’s got ulterior motives.
“The problem, Belial, is that I’m sure this is just another one of your games. As soon as I agree, you’re going to try to get something more out of this. To see how far you can push my buttons or get me to admit things. That’s not something I want to play tonight.”
The way Belial brings your hand to rest inches before his lip makes your legs press together in anticipation. He notices, you know he does, but he doesn’t comment. Not even when he kisses your wrist and you physically feel the heat rush to your ears.
“How about if I promise no games?” is what he says. Neutral expression. No hint of knowing teasing in his voice. “Just simple skin-on-skin. One night. If you don’t like it, I’ll never speak of it again.”
And you don’t know what it is that makes you agree, but you suspect it comes part in part with the coiling in your stomach. The hungry way he looks up at you, standing over him. Because despite whatever smooth lies and deflections he spins into your ears, despite being completely sure there’s a part of this bargain you’re missing out on, you can’t help but believe that maybe, somehow, it’ll be fun.
Simple skin-on-skin, you think, and scoff. Nothing with Belial is ever simple.
VANELUVER69 REPORTING IN!!! YOU AND VANE HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR THREE YEARS AND HE KEEPS TALKING ABOUT HOW HE'D LOVE TO OPEN A CAFE AND SHARE THE LOVE WITH EVERYONE HE'D FEED. YOU TWO SAVE UP MONEY AND ON THE OPENING DAY OF THE CAFE, HE CAN'T HELP BUT FEEL SO OVERWHELMED AND BAKE LIKE A WHOLE NEW DESSERT AND DRINK BASED ON YOU
While his face was scorching hot and his fingers were gripping the handles of the dessert tray he was holding so tight that the metal handles were close to snapping, Vane stood upon the stage, trying his best to not fidget. Flanked by the members of Team Chickadee–all of whom were holding your favorite flowers–he gulped once more, soon unable to handle his nerves before he near cried out, “Honey! I can make every dessert in the world, but they’ll never be as sweet as you! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! LIFE TASTES BETTER WITH YOU!”
You know im gonna ask about my beloved Ysius so I'll do secret, fear, and break for them <3
Thank you Cinna!! It is Ysius time!
Secret: What's one secret your OC never wants anyone to know about them?
I think if they were to keep anything a secret, it would be their past, because they want to be seen as them and not what everyone thought they were. Compartmentalizing queen, anything before she was thrown out simply doesn't exist anymore.
And it's not like they themself had changed after being thrown out, they're pretty much the same just maturing with age, it's just a time they would want to forget entirely.
Fear: What is your OC's greatest fear? What do they do when confronted with it? Are they open with their fear, or do they hide it away?
This was one of the ones I answered for them in the last round of asks and honestly I am still stumped. I think maybe that fear would be properly confronting themself. I used to joke that Aloysius and Cicely are like Diego and Hot Pants if they were worse, but I think that applies here. The same way Hot Pants can't look at herself, neither can Aloysius, just for different reasons.
When Aloysius thinks of themself it's always as an outcast, and something broken. They've only ever been treated as such and so they embraced it as just who they are without really working through that feeling. It's something they refuse to think about.
Break: What would cause your OC to break down completely? What do they look like when that happens? Has anyone ever seen them at their lowest?
I think Aloysius might actually break in Watch Me Bloom. In the height of Endgame, Aloysius has become so hell bent on getting the corpse and killing Hot Pants for making it such a problem, that they completely disregard their own wellbeing. It gets to the point where their eyes are literally gouged out and they still try to fight.
I think Aloysius has had a lot of low points in her life, and it's always just kind of sucked, but as soon as she gets involved with Hot Pants and the corpse things keep getting worse and worse. They see the corpse as their ticket to a stable life so there is no option to fail.
