Redemption

Steve offered the man a smile and extended his hand. He noted the blood on his face, and it tugged at his heart a bit. How often had he had similar injuries in his youth from scuffles in alleys not so different from this one? In fact, he may very well have been beaten up in this very alley before. Better now that he didn’t have a beating to fear. Steve’s gaze softened a bit more and he wanted very much to touch the man’s shoulder, but he dared not. The marks on his wrists, the stated of his face. He needed to see a doctor, that was for damn sure. “Why don’t I take you to get that looked at? Then you can tell me what happened?” he asked. Had this man been held captive by someone? Some kind of slave trade? He regretted letting that asshole run from him now. He should have smashed his face in. He mentally chastised himself. No, he was not a vigilante anymore. He was not Captain America anymore. He would report it to the police. He was an artist, he could sketch the man’s face.
